106.5 JACK FM playlist tweaks?

I still hear a lot of songs on 106.5 that other AC stations haven’t played in YEARS

My money is on Jack FM transitioning to some AC or Modern AC.

Is 106.5 broadcasting using backup equipment again? Audio processing sounded atrociously bad along M-6 in Kent County. Treble response was non-existent. No audio frequencies above maybe 3 kHz were audible.

When I was at WUPS we were the CMU Football and Basketball flagship, and everyone always asked "why do you have second rate CMU MAC sports on in prime time spots. We want to hear music." I always explained its because not only could we get sponsors for the games, but CMU paid big $$$ to be on. Like 60-80k a year. No station especially these days would turn down hat kind of coin.

Oh wow, I haven't thought about that in years! Is this CJ Russell, from the C&C Morning Machine? It's Mike Richards! Sorry to hijack the thread w/ off-topic reminiscing, but I was the CMU Sports Board Operator for WUPS back in....gosh I think late 2000, early 2001? For a brief time. It was fun, and I only ever heard positive feedback from the community & listeners on a music radio-station deciding to air sports coverage every now & then.

I do love 106.5 JACK-FM but whenever I'm flipping through the car radio dial and one of my preset stations has a sports game on, I don't even think anything of it, I just switch to another channel. I'd hope that the station owners must know what they're doing w/ this sports broadcast, in terms of financial benefit vs. diluting their branding with off-topic programming.

I imagine it has a benefit since WMU is a big part of Kalamazoo, theyve had WMU programming on for years.

The Ohio vs. WMU football game this evening is airing on WKZO instead of WVFM. Is this standard practice for weeknight "MACtion" games or did WMU cut its media distribution budget? I am pretty sure I heard Saturday games on WVFM earlier this season.
