If i may revert back into nerd mode for a moment, I was wondering if someone could explain why Smile FM files modification requests every three years for WJOM to increase wattage, but never does the work? It looks like this started in 2009, and at the end of the 3 year period the application expires. Then, days or maybe a month later, they file another one. By my count, they just filed #6 on 2/28/25, replacing an app that expired on 2/23. Is this just an attempt to keep another station from encroaching, with no actual plan to boost wattage?

Exactly. Spectrum speculation shenanigans. Things like that need to be brought to a screeching halt. Gaming the system.

Re: WJOM 88.5 Question
As is, the station is pretty much shoe-horned in there so curious who they would be trying to keep away. WJOM is kind of useless to Smile anyway as 88.1 and 90.9 provide decent coverage of the area WJOM covers.

Re: WJOM 88.5 Question
Looks like the most recent modification request was approved earlier this month. Let's bookmark this and check back in three years from now to discuss the follow up modification request. At that point, we can celebrate it being almost the 20th anniversary of having a continuous modification request in place!
