YouTube TV just announced a $10/mo. price increase

A place to discuss broadband, streaming video, cable, and satellite services (not programming). Bitch about your crappy cable, satellite or streaming video provider here! This is also the place to talk about channel line-ups, packages, and special offers.

Looks like barring a last minute agreement, we'll be losing Paramount stations for a bit. Outside of a few Big Ten weekend basketball games on CBS in the short term, can't say I'll miss any of these stations. I would hope that any prolonged outage would result in a monthly credit (i suspect the one mentioned in the article is intended as a one-time credit. Better yet, how about not bringing them back and permanently reduce the monthly fee.

A crawl ran briefly on CBS regarding this matter shortly before Noon today. They are asking viewers to visit keepcbs.com.

The only affected network I care about is CBS, and I can pick that up OTA.

Paramount+ is always an option to access programming from most of the affected networks in any case.

This would only apply to Cable subscribers. The few that are left.

Below is the full message YouTube TV is sending to its subscribers. Of note, I still have access to CBS, et al. as of 5PM eastern time on February 13.

With YouTube TV, our goal is to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want it. To make this happen, we enter into agreements with network partners to make their content available on YouTube TV. As such, we’ve been negotiating with Paramount to reach a fair agreement that allows us to keep their channels, including CBS, on YouTube TV without compromising the value of our service. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach an agreement.

On February 13, 2025, all Paramount channels will likely become unavailable on YouTube TV. If this happens, this will impact previous Library recordings from these channels, Paramount content in the Entertainment Plus package, and add-on services like Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and BET+. Should Paramount content become unavailable, we will continue to update our Help Center with the latest.

We know how frustrating and disruptive it is to lose channels you enjoy on YouTube TV, and we’re committed to providing you with the best possible entertainment experience. That’s why we’ll continue advocating on your behalf to offer you more flexibility in how you watch your favorite sports and shows while preserving the value of our service. It’s our goal to restore Paramount content to YouTube TV, but if we do not come to an agreement and their content is unavailable for an extended period of time, we'll offer our YouTube TV subscribers an $8 credit. You can still watch Paramount shows and movies by signing up for their streaming service, Paramount+, starting at $7.99/month. For more information on how we’re addressing our Paramount+, BET+, and Entertainment Plus subscribers, please visit our Help Center.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime. You can find more information in our Help Center.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work towards a fair agreement with Paramount. As always, we sincerely appreciate your YouTube TV membership.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team

I currently have a Max subscription at a $4.99 promo price. I have Paramount Plus for free as a perk of Walmart+, and could upgrade it for $5 to gain access to CBS live feed. I have Peacock at a promo rate of $2.99/month because I threatened to cancel. Outside of the remaining basketball games running on Big Ten Network or Fox, I could stream most of the rest of the Big Ten season and all of March Madness for roughly $13/month. Seriously considering dropping YTTV until football season.

The parties have reached agreement on a short term carriage extension of unspecified duration:

All the CBS / Paramount networks remain on the lineup as usual.

I noticed CBS was still on this morning and figured a last minute deal of some sort must have been reached.

I'm always curious how far apart these companies are on price when these disputes arise. I'd like to assume a few dollars, but often wonder if it's a few cents and both sides refuse to budge in order to have a quasi johnson-measuring contest.

New multi-year deal reached. As some had speculated, Paramount+ will now be available as an add-on for YouTubeTV subscribers.

I don't understand why Sling isn't eating their lunch. You can also do ala carte for the premiums. I get MGM+ for $5 a month.

Sling only carries about 50 total channels when adding its orange and blue plans together and doesn't carry locals (except for O&O ABC, NBC and FOX stations). That means in Detroit, Sling carries WJBK only. Sling does have a good lineup of sports channels.

Sling is a very good option for folks who have an outdoor antenna or who don't care about the major broadcast networks.
