I am sorry .I will not be able to attend. Ron's passing has been very painful for me. So much so that I have spent the past 8 months in a mental ward.Upon my release from the looney bin I find it very comforting to find that the Ron Cameron thread still lives.

Ron's Show Was Made For Talkin'

You keep sayin' what is all of this chatter
The same four topics on every show
You'd think that someone who's been on the air such a long time
Would have a lot more things that he would know

Ron's show was made for talkin'
And that's just what he'll do
One of these days Ron's show might even make some sense to you

Yeah

You keep hearin' ad spots instead of sports talk
For two restaurants and some other things
These ads they seem to go on for just forever
And you just wish that Ron's telephone would ring

Ron's show was made for talkin'
And that's just what he'll do
One of these days Ron's show might even sell something to you

You keep sayin' maybe I should call up Ron
And try to add some freshness to his show
You hope that Ron will not yell at you with anger
And give you a chance to show just what you know

Ron's show was made for talkin'
And that's just what he'll do
One of these days Ron's show might even get a call from you

Are you ready, Ron? Start talkin'
Another great parody, Bobbert! And let's give it up for Nancy Sinatra, Jr.!

Always a discussed when Ray was on. Kind of a bummer, enjoyed Rays insight and discussion when he was on. It’s too bad other sports stations/shows don’t reach out

Let’s do a throwback that I might have don’t pre Ron’s show Thoughts for a Sunday……

Others that provided a good interview that I am not sure we will hear on radio or TV

Frank Garza
Jim kaat from “new zeland”
Roger faunkner-The second most important person in soccer-I wonder who Ron thought was 1
Jim Develano

The non celebrity wing:

Producer Alex, always did a nice job with his baseball/football preview

Anyone want to add

I always imagined a memorial service for Ron that would make a Dean Martin roast look like a still life painting.

I'm basically a loner, and not too good in groups, so I'll pass. But it's a great idea for anyone who's interested in this kind of thing.

Ron must be turning over in his grave this month.

First, Trump was re-elected.

Now, baseball will test robot umpires next spring.

https://indianexpress.com/article/sport ... 3623/lite/
An automated ball-strike (ABS) challenge system will be trialed at 13 ballparks hosting 19 Major League Baseball teams in 2025, reported CNN. It means robot umpires will be part of a challenge system during Spring training next year, with an eye on implementing the system in the 2026 regular season.
On another front, there's a story in the Detroit Free Press with a headline that probably brought much joy to Keith from Oak Park:
As Datsyuk joins Fedorov in Hall, a reminder that Wings are overdue in retiring Russian numbers
I don't have access to the story, so I don't know what else it says.

Pavel Datsyuk's presence in Detroit over the past week served as a reminder there are Russian numbers worthy of the rafters at Little Caesars Arena.

The Detroit Red Wings are judicious as to whom is bestowed such an honor: 98 years into the franchise's history, only eight numbers have been retired. But recent Hockey Hall of Fame inductees have strong cases in their favor.

Datsyuk was at LCA on Thursday to drop a ceremonial puck in honor of his induction into the Hall earlier this month. He spent his entire NHL playing career with the Wings, but before the organization has discussions about possibly retiring his No. 13, there's another Russian Hockey Hall of Fame inductee that deserves such a discussion: Sergei Fedorov.

Fedorov dazzled in a Wings uniform from 1990 to 2003, winning three Stanley Cups and multiple individual honors including the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player in 1994. He electrified with the way he could skate. When he was inducted into the Hall in 2015, Scotty Bowman told the Free Press of a conversation he once had had with Wayne Gretzky regarding him, Fedorov, Mario Lemieux, and Jaromir Jagr: "Gretzky told me once, 'How many guys could play forward or defense?' He said, 'I couldn't do it. Jagr couldn't do it. Mario couldn't do it.' Sergei could play forward or defense, because he was a great skater."

Fedorov played 908 games for the Wings, recording 400 goals and 554 assists along with a plus-276 rating. In the 1990s and into the 2000s, he was considered one of the best players in the world. A big man — in his playing days, he was 6 feet 2 and 207 pounds — he powered by opponents all over the ice.

It is unfortunate that he ever left the organization, playing five more seasons with three other franchises; his departure as a free agent in 2003 is arguably why his No. 91 has yet to join Terry Sawchuk's No. 1, Red Kelly's No. 4, Nicklas Lidström's No. 5, Ted Lindsay's No. 7, Gordie Howe's No. 9, Alex Delvecchio's No. 10, Sid Abel's No. 12, and Steve Yzerman's No. 19.

Fedorov spurned a five-year, $50 million offer made personally by owner Mike Ilitch, who had green-lit all the work the Wings put into helping Fedorov defect in July 1990. Fedorov was consistently booed when he returned to Joe Louis Arena wearing, first, the jersey of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and then the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals.

It wasn't until Fedorov's Hall induction in 2015, alongside fellow 1989 draftee Lidström, that relations thawed, and Fedorov was welcomed back to the Joe to drop a ceremonial puck in celebration.

That was 10 years ago. If the Wings want to guarantee a sellout crowd one game next season, what better way than to retire Fedorov's number next November? He was a special player, a dominant force on the 1997, 1998 and 2002 Cup teams.

Then, after that, the Wings can turn to considering Datsyuk. (Though before that, former captain and Wings-lifer Henrik Zetterberg is certainly worth of consideration, too). Like Fedorov, Datsyuk left the Wings before they would have liked; his return to Russia in 2016 came even as he still had a year left on his contract, and rather than be crushed by a $7.5 million cap hit with nothing to show for it, the Wings traded the contract to the Phoenix Coyotes. (Datsyuk signed a one-day deal this week with the Wings to officially retire as a member of the franchise.)

None of the moves made as a result of that worked well for the organization.

There's a business side to hockey, but the bottom line is, Fedorov and Datsyuk were world-class players, and they were the Wings' world-class players. Wouldn't their numbers look perfect hanging from the LCA rafters?
