CFCO-FM Application

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

91.1 might be subject to co-channel interference from WRUW Cleveland. Possibly even CJRT.

On 91.1, there's some red dots on the Longley Rice Map on Canadian land not far from Chatham from both WFUM and WRUW. The Rabbit Ears site doesn't have Canadian stations like CJRT. Both WFUM and WRUW apparently both have restrictions toward the 91.3 allotment in Chatham, WFUM 29 kW/149 meters, and WRUW 15 kW/150 meters. WFUM was authorized in around 1984.

WRUW went from 10 to 1000 watts in 1980. It went to 15000 watts in 2002. WFUM was limited to 29000 watts toward that allotment in around 1984, though it operates at 17500 watts.

WRSX Port Huron might end up moving off of 91.3 if this application is approved. WRCJ is weak enough in Port Huron for them to use 91.1 FM. The one potential roadblock is 90.7 WNFR Sandusky.

As far as CKNX and CHOK are concerned, they will move to FM only when their AM transmitter sites are in the same condition that the CFCO site is in right now, if not sooner.

WFUM 91.1 puts an interfering 40 dBu F(50,10) contour past Port Huron. It goes 11 miles further than the 40 dBu F(50,50) on this map. I's on the tower that used to be used for Channel 28, which is about 12 miles further East than Flint toward Port Huron, near Goodrich. Plus I doubt U of M would want to interfere with itself on a cochannel.

I'm late to the party here, but I'm devastated that AM Stereo 630, CFCO is on the endangered list - yes, money runs the world, but what a high quality audio feed on a powerful signal here into Northern Ohio in Day Pattern/power. Circa 2005, the Classic Gold format was on my number 1 preset in the van. Nice frequency response on their stereo signal - that Classic Gold format still has another 10 years of life for us Vaby Boomers. There is no SiriusXM equivalent to the CFCO Classic Gold format- had a decent variety of CanCon songs that us here in the States enjoy we don't hear anywhere else. How can that great 630 KHz signal be saved, and used with their Classic Gold format?

Invent a time machine and dial it back to 1990-something.

The only way I see 630 surviving is CKWW swapping frequencies. An extreme long shot is an ethnic format.

Forget about CFCO.

Get a couple investors together and buy WJYM from Swaggert. Play oldies, and call it "Super 73"

The night pattern goes south, all the way to exit 94 on I-75. Find a salesman who doesn't mind his territory stretching from Toledo to Sidney. :smokin
