WSGW tech snafus

Unread post by Monitor »

This station has continual technical snafus. Tonight and last night Tom Sullivan Show was unavailable due to a computer issue. Last week another missing Bill O’Reilly show. Also telephones were down again on this talk station, plus microphone issues that keep happening. Station is often silent for long periods of time. Where does the buck stop? With local management?Alpha Media Corporate overseers?

But they are not identical. There’s additional info in this one.

I know of 2 times minimum, and I’m sure it’s been more than that, that they weren’t carrying the Tigers game when they were on and kept carrying whatever syndicated talker was on

I think I'll try to implement some tech snafus on my station as it seems to be working for them. #1 overall, #1 in mornings & #1 in middays.

Bon appetit!

Try fixing the automation on Tigers games (to at least broadcast them when you’re supposed to) before you spout off.

We all know that Alpha Media barely has any bodies left in that building. It’s obvious on some of your stations, especially the half assed attempt to challenge Z93 called The Core…

Enjoy that #1 while you can. It’s a result of a presidential election year, Spirit winning the Memorial Cup and a good year for the Tigers. Don’t expect it to repeat in 2025
Z93 has been impressive with their promotions and visibility around that area at key events.

I’m bitter when WSGW constantly advertises that they’ve been the home to the Tigers for over 50 years and I go to tune into the game and it’s not there. There isn’t any other station that rimshots the Tri Cities that carries them. You guys need to get your crap together

It's nice to see a heritage station like WSGW back at the #1 spot. However, it's also quite disheartening to know that benchmark programming like Tigers Baseball and Tom Sullivan were unavailable due to either a programming or engineering oversight. Losing someone like Dave Maurer who has so much institutional knowledge of that place certainly doesn't help. At last check the Tom Sullivan issue is supposedly resolved. Tom should have never been moved to evenings in the first place, a far superior program to Hannity!

100.5 has had distortion for more than four hours so far this afternoon. It is unlistenable! I would hate to think advertisers have to pay for ads during this period.

WSGW posted on Facebook that they are painting the tower they rent space on at Delta College for 100.5. Most tower crews do require you to lower power or sometimes even turn off completely when they are working near the elements. Since Alpha doesn't own this tower, they probably don't have much say on the painting schedule. The good news is that towers only have to be painted every 5-10 years.

Next time, we'll have the painters climb the tower overnight to paint it. On the way to-and-from, they can stop by and make sure nobody is going through offices and stealing food.
