Diamond Sports & Charter Spectrum reached a new deal from reading the article, it looks like Bally's naming rights will be ending on the RSN.

Looks like some kind of experiment with OTA and streaming possibly leaving the cable channel behind in the near future. No word if there are plans to do the same with Tigers games.

Will Broadcast’s Local Sports Comeback Stand Up?

"The implosion of the regional sports network business has allowed local broadcasters to step into the breach with live local pro-sports telecasts. The question now is: Can stations keep and even grow their sports stature, or will they get stuck on the bench once direct-to-consumer operations hit their stride?"

Scales nicely when you use a decent content delivery network. Scales horribly when you try to roll your own as no one is going to be able to replicate what Netflix did a decade ago.

Fastly is the choice these days, the more you use the bigger the discounts. Anything Google is not.

I've subscribed directly through Bally Sports + pretty much since they first rolled it out. Was extremely glitchy and frustrating initially but has come a long way in terms of app and stream reliability. Functionality still sucks, and I'll be happy to subscribe through Amazon as soon as/if it happens. But overall it gets the job done.

I subscribed to Bally sports last year for a month. No issues whatsoever. I didn't understand what people were complaining about.

It was all fun-n-games while I was at work this weekend (albeit at an establishment w/Direct TV but the Tigers were getting knocked around by the Yankees), but this lack of BSD on my Xfinity really caught me tonight, as the Tigers are playing the Guardians on my night off. Pleasantly surprised the game is a national broadcast on FS1, not so pleasant that Tigers continue to leave runners on base, and only have put up a single run.

When Diamond Sports reached a financing agreement with their creditors, it stopped the early termination with the NHL and NBA, so it appears that Diamond was hoping to just return to business as usual and force basic cable customers to carry the load with price increases. Comcast wanted to put them into a sports tier and negotiations stalled.

If the court does not allow them to shed the contracts that caused them to seek protection in the first place, they're not exiting soon or not at all. I would not be surprised of the NHL finds another way given how they've been pushing ads into the broadcasts anyway.

It'll no longer be associated with Bally's when they exit bankruptcy.
