"MAY-Cuhm" ?? (Channel 62 critique)
C'mon, channel 62!
How is it that one of your MMJs does not know how to properly pronounce the name of the third most populous county in your viewing area?
Just saw a story about the MI House District 13 race. The MMJ butchered the name of Macomb County at least twice.

Time to give them a quiz with Dequindre, Lahser, Gratiot, and Schoenherr.

Most folks call it that on purpose, though.

Tony Ortiz has been around Michigan long enough not to call Ubly, Ooo-Blee. But he did.

Ah....back in the early '80s when I worked at WPHM, I was told to pronounce it "Port Heer-on" -- and that the other AM station in town, WHLS, pronounced it like the locals and it sounded like Port Urine. Some things you never forget.

I saw that live and was quite surprised.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 5:38 pmC'mon, channel 62!

Here's the story it was in:

Wonder if there's someplace in Oregon that actually pronounces "Macomb" that way. I couldn't find any references. Maybe Ducks University didn't actually serve her as well as her bio suggests.Elle Meyers joined the CBS News Detroit team in April of 2023 after spending two years covering Michigan's capitol. Elle is an Oregon native and a graduate of the University of Oregon (go Ducks!), where she double majored in journalism and political science, both of which have served her well in her journey to Detroit.

Alan Longstreet used to call Ann Arbor "Uh Narbor," but I think he's gotten over it.

Dave Rexroth still does to this day. It bugs me.
