Kind of surprised I haven't seen it mentioned in here, yet, but the far-right Ottawa County Board of Commissioners is looking to oust John Gibbs as County Administrator (even though they hired him as one of their first orders of business after being sworn in):

John Gibbs is a joke I wouldn't have voted him for congress if I lived in Kent or Ottawa county I'd have voted 3RD party. I wonder if a lot of those on the board in Ottawa County will be voted out to get some check and balances for Ottawa Commissioners, I'd vote moderate conservatives or 3RD party as it is hard for me to vote a liberal. I just wish both sides would stop voting the crazies in office as both parties are party over country I wish there was a stronger 3RD party that would light a fire under both GOP & Dems asses. I'll never vote for the 2 evils ever again why in Nov I'm voting 3RD party for president and giving the finger to both Trump & Biden both dividers & chiefs 2 of the worse presidents in modern history.

Gibbs is actually correct regarding Kallman Legal Group; they are indeed underqualified to serve as county corporate counsel.

Local politicians don't really matter much in the giant scheme of things. They used to help sell newspapers but since those are going away they are mostly fading into oblivion.

Local governments control your police department(run correctly or run fascist like), your fire, your property taxes, your options for local businesses, and libraries. Other than that, you’re right.

The commission moved to terminate Gibbs with cause last night. They tried to do the same with the county health director last fall, and we all know now how that turned out!

The only person voting against the motion, interestingly enough, is the lone Democrat on the commission.

I am somewhat skeptical as to the veracity of the allegations against Gibbs.

Ottawa County Commissioner Lucy Ebel, who was initially backed by the conservative PAC Ottawa Impact, was recalled by voters in yesterday's election. Democrat Chris Kleinjans won the commissioner's seat in a 60-40 vote.
