I seen that.
My first thought was the majority of those into watching that sort of thing would still be at work at 5pm on a weekday.

Was this local or network?
Channel 4 had a show called "Beat the Champ" back in the '60s... it aired late at night but allegedly had hee-yooge ratings. Which I suppose isn't hard if you're the only program on the air at 1:30am.

I remember that show. I also recall watching "Make That Spare", which featured local bowling greats Buzz Fazio and Eddie Lubanski. Brought to you by Strohs Beer, of course.

PBA bowling as a network TV feature is always going to make me think of Saturday afternoons on ABC in the 90s, LOL.

That was must see TV for me as a kid in the late 70s and 80s. I still remember how they frequently played George Benson's 'Breezin' coming out of commercial breaks.

I thought I was answering a question about Beat the Champ. My bad.

Which show filmed at the Thunderbird Lanes downriver somewhere?
I have no clue where that place is, but decades later the name sticks in my head from the commercials for that show, and I don't even remember the show. I might have only watched it a couple times.
Similar to the Tyler 8-7100 phone number!!

That would have been Bowling for Dollars with Bob Allison

And also the short lived kids version called Pinbusters hosted by Chuck Springer. I wanted to be on that at the time.
km1125, Thunderbowl Lanes is still there on Allen Rd. in Allen Park. There used to be a Thunderbird Lanes in Troy but I think they closed several years ago like so many other bowling alleys.

Ah, yes, Thunderbowl instead of Thunderbird! And can hear Bob Allison's voice right now (it seems)!
