The next post on FTVL was one about the not-talked-about departure of sports anchor Ronnie Duncan.

Ronnie is gone for reasons that despite management staying quiet are enough that he should really be gone. It was a pleasant surprise that management does not treat anchors above the rest of us and most of us are happy he is out of here.
The GM visiting is of keen interest to us but the staff at KPIX has been here before because they helped launch the station. We have a turd, or two, in the punch bowl here who are enjoying stirring up trouble for the drama it causes.

Whats with all the anchor strife? Just growing pains? New folks.. some working out some not? Is Shaina happy? She was a main anchor in Philly. Moving to a start up has to be a bit of an adjustment.

Also, do they have plans to fill Jeff's role? Or go with this new solo anchor thing..

Growing pains. Most happy with a few bad eggs slowly being discovered and rooted out. Egos are showing up where they weren't before. Shaina has expressed happiness with the station so far aside from the few bad eggs mentioned by New2You above.

And I thought this thread was going to be about their audio quality!! Is it just me, or does anybody else think they need to do something to improve that?

What's a "70/30 bootcamp"?

Won't miss Ronnie Duncan. He's probably a really nice guy and liked some of his puff pieces he did, but actually watching him for sports updates was disappointing. Rather watch ANY of the other channels (regardless of sports anchor) for that segment.

He was in fact, not.
70/30 is a program splitting reporting between daily news and stories of larger significance including human interest pieces. Ratings at KPIX soared a year after they began the 70/30 style and with training for anchors, reporters, weather people complete the GM is in town for more guidance on launch.

KPIX has had a news department for a long time has it not?
Donald Trump… In your guts you know he’s nuts.

Why not try a simulcast of WWJ AM and add some video footage as needed?

MW: I think you are correct — having a 70/30 corporate mandate that works at one station won’t mean success here in Detroit.

The problem with CBS Detroit is many of the stories their “embedded reporters” are “digging up” simply aren’t news for a TV market the size of Detroit. Until they get a real journalist as news director, there’s very little chance CBS will compete with WDIV, WJBK, or WXYZ.

That shop was set up to fail.
It took them forever to get the gear and then they started passed out bundles of cash to rookies.
Those rookies were unproven and now they need mental breaks. Rumor has it some of them have taken multiple mental breaks.
On top of that, Lisa Palmer is terrible to work for. She has zero management ability which may be the reason for the mental breaks?
