I drove from Michigan to Toronto on a road trip in 1999, and I was able to tune in to WJR until I got into the western outskirts of the GTA, when interference began obliterating the signal. Of course, it would be many years later until I found out that WTOR existed.

I was driving through Toronto last year en route to Montreal. My experience was about the same.
CKWW comes in decent as far as London. For 500 watts the signal does well north and east of the transmitter. West and south are the nulls.

When I travel to Port Huron, WTOR’s signal starts coming in and at times it’s not bad to detect. I would think that it would be covering the east coastline of Michigan’s Thumb.rugratsonline wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 10:23 pmI drove from Michigan to Toronto on a road trip in 1999, and I was able to tune in to WJR until I got into the western outskirts of the GTA, when interference began obliterating the signal. I always wonder if 580 does indeed flip to an ethnic format, could CKLW run an oldies format on a part-time basis like weekends? It seems like it's either brokered shows or reruns of their regular weekday shows quite a bit of the time.
Re: Sale of Windsor's CKWW in the works
Don’t know if the CRTC would go for that. That could call for a change in licensing. Also the fact that the CRTC always had it in for CK back in the day, even though that was 50 years ago.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 4:10 pm I always wonder if 580 does indeed flip to an ethnic format, could CKLW run an oldies format on a part-time basis like weekends? The possible sale has just been mentioned in the Hamilton Newspaper. If approved, Neeti P. Ray hopes to take control of the three radio stations by April.

Marcus, what do think will happen? Will 580 remain Oldies for a while or go Ethnic soon after the ownership change?
Re: Sale of Windsor's CKWW in the works
Interesting how ethnic programming isn’t mentioned for either Hamilton station.
Re: Sale of Windsor's CKWW in the works
One of the radio stations might play music during the daytime and have multilingual programming in the evenings. This is what CFMS in Markham does.
