The availability of the newfangled short but efficient wound helix and top loaded AM BC antennas would probably have allowed a two site antenna from the top of a building near the Square Lake and Telegraph for Daytime use, and just three towers elsewhere for Nighttime site use. When WPON increased from 500 watts to 1000 watts nondirectional, like many stations at the time, it required reduced efficiency to the minimum for Class III. Generally in such cases, the actual power to the antenna was around 750 watts, and around 250 watts was converted to heat in a dummy load called an efficiency resistor.KeenerGold wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 2:32 pmA hopeless feat since 1988, when the old 1kW-D, .5kW-N DAN site in Bloomfield Hills was moved out to the swamp.ItsJustCharlie wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 1:23 pm I know that WPON doesn't have the greatest signal strength out there (We're trying to see if we can fix that btw)

Play some classic/lost punk tracks and I'm in.

Like “White Punks on Dope” by The Tubes 1975 or “Lust for Life” by Iggy Pop 1977.
Re: WPON's AA and Revolving Door Show
"She's Got The Look" 2001 from the "Cover with Ants" Album. Good stuff.
Re: WPON's AA and Revolving Door Show
I need to try and tune in. I always give brokered shows a chance, then go from there. WPON’s signal isn’t awful near the office, but it’s abysmal near the house, and of course it varies driving around. WPON’s stream has always been shaky.

White Punks or Lust? Both are incredibly cool.

Lust for life, very solid song. Great recommendation!

One of the stations here in Traverse City played a cut from The Virus 100 complication. Play some of that.

There is a great R&B tune from 1971 by a girl group called The Fuzz the song is “I Will Always Love You For All Seasons” check it out. It’s possible that might be in WPON’s library (if there is one). At any rate great tune.

You did on an earlier post. Don’t forget to check out live365 for creating an internet station and eventually you can get rid of WPON. Here’s the website address for live365 www.live365.com all the info you need is on that site.ItsJustCharlie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 11:57 pm I realized I never said what times the show is on,

Just checked it out, don’t recall hearing it before. Good choice.

Here’s a few more “White Lies, Blue Eyes” by Bullet 1971, “Right on the Tip of My Tongue” by Brenda & the Tabulations 1971, “That Same Old Feeling” by Pickettywitch 1970 and “That’s Where I Went Wrong” by The Poppy Family Featuring Susan Jacks 1970. All great tunes from a great era in pop music.
