WWJ suffers one of its worst books of the PPM era
I cannot remember the last time they managed only a 3.5 share in 6+, if ever.
Their money demo share must really stink. I suppose the audience isn't too thrilled with the current on-air lineup.

That's what happens when Roberta Jasina is let go.
Woe to you, oh earth and sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

Where did listeners go? I mean, WWJ has no competition.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 5:17 pmI cannot remember the last time they managed only a 3.5 share in 6+, if ever.

Actually, the last year since Roberta left, the ratings and key demos went UP significantly. Nothing against her. But every ratings period except this most recent, was major growth and success across the board. The “new lineup” has been very popular and successful.
Its likely summer drop off, but who knows.

Here’s another Roberta Jasina flashback: asking a first responder who fought a dangerous fire somewhere in Detroit…

Perhaps it’s time for that 98.7 simulcast to come sooner than later…

It’s a Newswheel… what exactly does one expect the lineup to do… read the news in a Shakespearean manner?MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 5:17 pmI cannot remember the last time they managed only a 3.5 share in 6+, if ever.

I think some (ex?) listeners are unhappy with the current on-air lineup.
Also, we all know how rotten the traffic reports were in afternoon drive for a period of time. The folks who have been covering traffic in afternoon drive for the past month or so have been doing a much better job.

Scott Ryan is a true professional. He's definitely not rotten, or "covering" and sounds good in PM drive. He should be permanent.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Jun 17, 2023 6:57 pmI think some (ex?) listeners are unhappy with the current on-air lineup.

I couldn't remember his full name - but I agree with you completely! He is doing a much better job than his predecessor.

They still seem to be rotating. I just heard KT about an hour ago. Scott Ryan is the usual afternoon guy and he’s good. Occasionally they still use the subpar O’Neil Stevens (who only calls problems out by county, even if it’s in the city) and our favorite Jim Hughes.

People are far from “unhappy” with the lineup. The ratings have been better than they have been in years. This snapshot seems to be a one off. Im told by a friend there, they quickly rebounded after this sample. Morning Drive has been especially strong. As for traffic.. yeah its been a bit in transition. But all of em are good. Just need consistency.
Re: WWJ suffers one of its worst books of the PPM era
I disagree about all of the traffic reports being good. KT and Scott Ryan, yes. Tina Marie and Tracy McCaskill (spelling?)seem OK from what I’ve heard.
O’Neil Stevens has a good delivery but he’s not good with geography. Like I said, he only refers to problems by county. That’s fine if it’s in a rural area away from the Tri-County such as I-94 in most of St. Clair County. It’s very awkward when it’s in the city, or Southfield, or some other large area. He’s also said I-94 and Gratiot (not even the county), without mentioning where (Detroit, Roseville, or Marysville). If you don’t give a backup point or an alternate, drivers won’t know where he’s talking about. KT will specifically say which city in this case. He also seems to heavily favor state routes for alternates, when a county or local road may be a better option.
Jim Hughes is still bad, but not as bad as before. Still stumbling all over the place, not good with geography either, but I haven’t heard him mispronounce roads or locations recently.
There’s a few others there but I don’t hear them often.
Does anybody (KT?) coach them on geography or pronounciations?
I miss Dennis Neubacher. He knew the area like the back of his hand.

Scott Ryan was the guy who ran "the desk" at WWJ back in the day. He was basically the guy who was in charge of the newsroom during certain shifts. He's the real deal.
