I'd rather listen to Price than Bobby Scales. I always thought Austin Jackson and Andy Dirks did a better job but apparently Scales is next in line to Price? Scales sure needs a lot of work.

I'll never understand the raw hatred for Price, as I think he does a great job. Heavy on his -isms but I notice they're really turned down this season.
But Scales is just bad. I get that he's green and still needs to really get comfortable and settle in, but the first few times I heard him, I had to wonder if anyone was doing color at all. DD would carry the broadcast for up to five minutes at a time before Scales would fill in a word or two and then disappear again.

He doesn't need a color commentator. He is a compulsive talker, and has no trouble filling any amount of airtime with his chattering.

There we go. I like DD and Price is alright, I'd rather listen to these guys than the TV team. I don't believe Austin, Andy, and lets put Alex Avila in there, all of them were more interesting to listen to than Scales. Not sure why Scales gets the free pass and Price gets the hatred. I do think it's time for Jimmy to step down for a younger person but if you look at the head of our government and his age and faculties......who knows apparently.

If you compare it to the NY Yankee radio team- John can't remember his last time but the guy who will yell "Yaaaannnnkkkeeessssss Wiiiiinnnn........Yaaaaaaaannnnkkkkkkkeeeessss Win" and his female sidekick who just spits out stats and stories about the opposing team's ballplayers, I'd say the Detroit team is ahead and that says a lot.

Listening to Andy Dirks today doing color in place of Jimmy was pure heaven. Commentary that is intelligent, not overwhelming and easy to listen to. The Tigers need to seriously consider him for permanent color commentator in the future

Dirks is great and I thought he should've been the guy a couple of years ago. The Scales hire mystifies me - although local, he has no ties to the Tigers and really isn't very good on air.

I’m thinking that perhaps Dirks doesn’t want to travel. He’s married, got young kids, lives in the Detroit area and is a Realtor. Hopefully he could do home games when Price leaves…

Listen this afternoon driving to meetings. Mr. Price sounded weak, confused, and spoke in short phrases. He still used Backdoor Slider, yellow hammer, but only said That's pitching.

My favorite moment of the game today (June 21) was when he asked Dan: “What’s that smell?”

Dan had to quickly come up with Canadian wildfire or BBQ vendor.
