It happened in late ‘19. As a result, Ron was banned from the station. As I recall, Ron missed some shows, but eventually returned doing his show remotely. Offhand, I don’t remember how many restaurant remote shows he did, but it was an unmitigated disaster. I think Ron was off again. Then came the Cova & Ron was absent from the airwaves for a while, leading some to wonder if we had heard the last of him. But Ron returned, bigger & better than ever before.

What happened for Ron to get banned from the studio? Did he blow up the bathroom, and someone complained?Momo wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 10:25 pmIt happened in late ‘19. Maybe Leo put a little too much grease into the Breakfast Special that day.sparty89 wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 10:31 pmWhat happened for Ron to get banned from the studio? Momo, you continue to kill me. Good job. Glad I wasn’t taking a drink.

Funny you should mention that:Dan in Northville wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 3:49 pm Just as at the end of "It's a Wonderful Life", can you imagine all of Ron's friends and sponsors from these last 50 years joining together and showing up at his hotel room door with a big basket of money to bail him out of this latest crisis. "A toast to Ron Cameron, the richest man in the world"!!!!!

Re: Ron Cameron
It had probably been building. After his abusive comments towards producers, his on-air complaints about the station, and stuff behind the scenes that we don't know about, the station was probably just waiting for the chance to get rid of him.Mr.Transistor wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 9:38 pm Frankly, I am surprised at the speed that this has took place. It makes one wonder if the Salem media mgmt had plans in the works to send Ron packing. Perhaps the urgency that Ron had to talk to Mr. P was to get names/numbers of potential employers in the area. The other point is of course we spend all this time to see the trainwreck occur and I think to myself, Jake Wood what else can be said?? Well boom there it goes, unreal.
One other thing, if there is another stop at WPON for Ron he better get back in the saddle quickly or those advertisers will wise up to the fact that nothing changed since the station stopped Ron's broadcasts. So it's in his best interest to not miss a beat.
If there is another stop in Ron's future will Jake Wood be invited back on as guest?

Wow what a crazy 48 hours this has been for the Ron Cameron show and is posters/commentators. According to his Twitter page he did acknowledge he hopes to be on the radio soon. I am not sure if this is Mark wilson or Jim leyland “soon”
Is there a secondary show not known well out there that we can make relevant while Ron is on hiatus?

I agree from Luke’s comment it seemed this was the final straw in some concerns they hadBobbert wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 11:01 pmIt had probably been building. I looked at WFDF 910's schedule and they have a sports show Wednesday at 9PM. Might be worth a shot. I have never listened before.radiofan1974 wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 7:29 am Wow what a crazy 48 hours this has been for the Ron Cameron show and is posters/commentators. Ron's Wikipedia page has been updated. From Wikipedia: "Cameron’s contract with WDTK was terminated May 1, 2023 after the usage of racial slurs the previous day’s show."

Re: Ron Cameron
I think this settles the discussion on Ron's whereabouts on November 22, 1963.

Re: Ron Cameron
Ironic that Ron's departure from 'DTK came on May 1, also known as May Day, which is similar to the word Mayday, which is "an international radio-telephone signal word used as a distress call."
It's fair to say that description fits many of Ron's recent shows, in his desperate search for sponsors, listeners, guests, validation, and now a radio station home.
