105.5 WQQO Toledo
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
And part two: Radio World recently had a war of words with engineers fighting over running FM in mono vs stereo FM. Most FM radios have decent blend, so no reason to run mono. Mono FM can support HD in stereo. FM distance penalty is not that dramatic. Not running the stereo pilot can screw you on RDS, and some old home tuners won't stop scan until it hits one with a stereo pilot. Big Lew would care, but, Lew Jr. could give a s@$t when the tower lights were out. FWIW, analog AM stereo didn't have a distance penalty like FM stereo used to have back then, but AM not happy at 130% mod. Run stereo everywhere, IMO.

I like rock music and it's not even in my car's presets anymore. I remember in the 2000s, I worked at a place where WIOT was on everyday. Same boring songs over and over. Then Bob and Tom, which I have never gotten the appeal to that show. After I left, I vowed I would never listen to WIOT again.
106.5 is a whole other level of awful now, tied with 730am. Q105 is wretched.

Wishful thinking but I'd like to see Christmas 105.5, with a brand new format after the holidays. No, not another tweak A NEW format. Come on Cumulus, make it happen!

That'd be funny if either that happened or the River flipped to Christmas this week, right in time for it to be 75 degrees on Saturday
Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
Why not? I was at Lowes the other day and right where you walk in, it's Xmas stuff as far as the eyes can see.

Hmmm this is interesting. Cumulus just flipped their CHR in Dallas to '90s and 2k. Even with Party 103.3 in the market, I could see this happening to WQQO. As much as I dislike Cumulus, mainly because of their half assed CHR attempt in every market, they typically do (used to do) well with adult formats. I could see them going at 101.5 with a more "pop" sounding 90s and 2k station compared to Party's rhythmic sound.

Re: 105.5 WQQO Toledo
That would fit very well in The Toledo cluster. It wouldn't sabotage WRQN or dig into XKR either. If by some chance they would, bring back the star 105 name.
Hmm? Lets see.
Gin Blossoms- Allison road
Vanessa Carleton- A 1000 miles
Fergie- Big Girls Don't cry
OMC-How Bizarre
Matchbox 20-Mad Season
Gavin Degraw- I don't wanna be
Pearl Jam- Betterman
Natalie Imbruglia(Sp?)-Torn
Third Eye Blind- Never let you go
Green Day-When I come around
Mellissa Ethridge- If I wanted to
Counting Crowns- Around here
John Mayer- Waiting on the world change.
Went out in the weeds a little but yeah something like that would work in T-town.

105.5 airs a 2k show every weekend, and keep in mind, they stunted with 90's and 2000's before going CHR. Eric Chase could probably do this format well. I wouldn't mind it for the frequency, and it also could do well with female listeners.

100% agree with you on every point. I've worked with Eric in the past, prior to his time with iHeart. I think if they went this direction and let him program the station the way it should be programmed it would be done extremely well. Cumulus just doesn't do CHR well at all, they never have, plus they've really done a great job at burning the 105.5 frequency. I'd like to see an actual stunt that gets attention with some sort of promotion involved and then a real brand and product change. Then again, I've never seen the breakdowns of Q105, so I don't know how competitive they are W25-54. I can't imagine the numbers are great based on the 12+.

WIOT, when I was there 36 years ago, was a force to be reckoned with. I actually think "104" was playing in more offices than WLQR or 105FM 3WM. Nobody complained about the new Fleetwood Mac playing alongside Judas Priest, either. The station sounded perfect.Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:14 pm*raises hand*CurlyHoward wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 6:38 pm WIOT is Toledo's second-worst radio station after Potty 103.3. Colonel Flagg, the thing I really loved about WIOT when I was a UT student in the late 90s was that it was a one stop shop for rock. I always thought it leaned more classic than new, but not by much. I didn't have to try four stations, as I would here in Columbus then and likely now, to get the rock I wanted. WIOT was a station I could leave on for hours and not get tired of the programming ... although in the car, I would sample WRIF, 89X and later WXKR to see what they had on.
