Yet again, you are assuming. A wise man never reveals everything. I’ll just let you keep assuming.

A man who speaks beyond his knowledge or wants to seem smart does the same but does so cryptically.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 12:25 pmRate This wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 11:35 amThat’s because it’s all you know.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 11:27 amOn their LinkedIn, it says later this fall. Your opinion, not a fact! It seems to be common around here with some know it alls, who think they know better than the ones who run the station! Also, on a board where you have some who complain about everything!!
I think CBS knows what they are doing. They know far more than any of us on here. I think it’s best to watch how everything is built.

I'm curious about programming. I think it's safe to assume we will see the traditional newscasts (4:30 - 7:00, 12:00 - 12:30, 5:00 - 6:30, 11:00 - 11:35 and 10:00 - 11:00 on CW). What about more non-traditional times?
9am - Most CBS O&Os are now airing half hour newscasts at 9am followed by a half hour of Drew Barrymore. I read a story yesterday that indicated the new half hour format for Drew is really helping her ratings. Right now WWJ airs Drew at 4pm.
4pm - Currently 4 and 7 air newscasts at 4:00, so will CBS join in? I'm assuming if not, we will see Dr. Phil aired pushed back one hour, but we could see Phil moved to 3pm to make room for a 4pm newscast.
7pm - If they decide to go with a newscast at 7pm, they could pair it with Entertainment Tonight, which right now airing at 1:35am. Would we see Family Feud move to 50? To me that would be the smartest move because currently 62 is airing 3 hours of Family Feud daily, and there will not be enough room in their schedule with newscasts to air 3 hours of ratings gold.
7am - The only other non-traditional time would be a newscast on 50 from 7-9am. I have a feeling a local newscast against 2 and 7/20 would be more competitive than what CBS Mornings is with Today and GMA. This doesn't seem to be something CBS has done too much in other markets though.

I would like cbs62 to do a traditional time slot of 7 Am- 9AM as the other Detroit stations do non traditional time slots and by the time people get up, the local news is over. That is why Fox2Detroit wins morning ratings. Only local news broadcasting for Metro Detroit residents to watch.
Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?
It looks like they are still hiring. Though they are nearly fully staffed, I don’t think they will launch until possibly early December. But that’s just my opinion. As for the delay with the set, I read that other CBS O&Os were having the same issue, so it’s understandable if CBS62 was. I also think CBS wants to get this right this time, which is why they are covering their Ps and Qs.
The press release from last year stated that it will be on traditional time slots. So 4:30 am-7 am, noon, 5-6:30 pm, and 11 pm on WWJ-TV are to be expected.

Also, I don’t think it would be a good idea for CBS to hire former anchors or reporters who were retired. That’s probably why they didn’t go for Christy McDonald. No shocker that two of the anchors that were hired (Jeff and Shaina), are from different markets. The only one that has ties to this area so far, is Rachelle Graham.

Hiring retired anchors might be a good idea if (a) they are highly talented and can bring instant credibility, and (b) won't "re-retire" in a year and are willing to work for less money than which they were previously accustomed.
Much easier said than done, obviously.
Completely agree that the set construction delays, induced by supply chain issues, cannot and should not be held against local staff.

Just saw that. Also saw the CBS News Detroit mic during the 10pm news on CW 50. So they are close. Thanks for posting this.

As for the video of the set, I think it explains all of the recent promos. They are very close to launch. How soon, none of us know but it’s close. I think the set delays did set things back at least a month. However, I do feel they are now making up for that, to get this up and running before the end of the year, at the very least. A lot is truly being put into this. Just want a good product and not a rushed one, that’s all.
