I've been watching Vancouver lately. Recently 104.9 switched from Kiss Radio with Hot AC to Sonic which is Alternative and Rogers also has an Edmonton station with that name.
Weeks later Wave 98.3 came on the air and wikipedia says it combines Smooth Jazz with Rhythmic AC.
Now come Monday, July 25th the Alternative station on 102.7 known as the Peak will become a HD-2 broadcast and the main signal will become something else. Some are saying it will be Hot AC. Classic Hits is another option.

Radio in Canada
Re: Radio in Canada
I love Canadian radio. What’s cool about Canada, is that the CRTC allows commercial radio between 88 and 92 on FM. I mostly listen to Canadian stations on FM from Windsor, Chatham and Sarnia. My favorite is Blackburn’s Cool FM brand. It may be interesting if there’s an actual expansion for FM and Canada allows new stations on the expanded portion, just how many stations in border cities of Canada will move to the new frequencies.
Re: Radio in Canada
It's getting close. The change will happen at 4:02 EDT or 1:02 PM Vancouver Time.

Re: Radio in Canada
As some predicted it is called Now Radio. It sounds a little bit more like Variety Hits than Hot A.C. although it might be a mix of both.
