Breaking news to the Sportstalk Buzzboard, I saw this morning that both Jim Leyland and Dick Tracewski are both going to be in town on Saturday and Sunday August 6th and 7th for a card show.

That's tough to say. Ron is oblivious to those sort of things. Those guys are also in town for Sweet Lou's # 1 retirement ceremony on August 6th in the evening as well. If they are still playing dodge 'em when they see Ron's number light up on their phone, they could still be in the Ron Cameron guest protection program.

Brock Porter, the local guy who was the only one of whom Ron had any vague knowledge - & who he was certain would be picked by the Tigers (yet another pitcher!) - was not picked yesterday in the first 40 selections. I understand he has quite the athletic pedigree, though, as he's the son of former Piston Howard Porter. Or is it former Piston Kevin Porter?

Though I cant imagine going through the stages of loss of a spouse, as with things like that you have good days and bad days. Last time he was in on was sports focused, maybe like he said last night, lets go crazy, what going to happen to me

That's a fair thing to say. He's probably somewhere between the fourth and last stages of the Kubler-Ross stages of grief (depression and acceptance).

That's funny, especially the "Looks like we're in for gastric pressure" line.

Last night's performance (it's hard to call it an interview) by Rich Kincaide made me realize that he would be the perfect biographer for Ron Cameron. They are on the same wavelength in several different ways, and Rich has experience with writing books about people. And if he was willing to take on a book about Bill Bonds, with all its possible controversy, he should be able to take on a book about R Sizzle.

At least once, though, Ron has suggested that Talbert (like everyone else!) was a fan of his. Leading me to be most skeptical of his other "references."

This clip from 3/26/81 is the only complimentary thing I've seen Talbert write about Ron, but it was probably as much about George Blaha as Ron. I think the Sports View Today TV show in the mid-80s helped re-invigorate Talbert's animosity towards Ron.

A lot of Dick talk, bathroom talk, Beckman bashing. It was interesting, certainly not expected. The engineers in the control room had to be on guard for whatever came out of Rich's mouth last night. Unexpectedly Ron was the tame one.

Since Brock Porter was the only name in the MLB draft with whom Ron had some passing familiarity (even if he couldn't quite nail his high school), & thought the Tigers were going to nab with their first pick, I’m thinking that Ron’s latest hobby horse will be talking about how the Rangers got a steal by getting him in the fourth round & that the Tigers should’ve selected him. “Get me Porter’s stats.”
