Politics aside, sea level rise is a real concern and the military is concerned about what it will mean for its bases. Even conservative increases in temperature are expected to impact the sea level and scholars from military institutions and others have written about the problem and the impact it will have on several of our bases. It might not happen in our lifetime, but it seems like the general belief is that the impact of it will be felt prior to 2100. I suggest reading some of this, it is somewhat less dry than scholarly journal articles but still informative.

I don't know the extent of the impact that man has, no one really does, but I think it is probably in our best interest to devise ways to limit the impact of nature itself on climate change if we can, and to do what we can to reduce our own impact, but also accept that regardless, climate change will impact our lives and figure out how to live with it.

Because there is ONE side who wants to control the spending and alter YOUR life habits to further THEIR priorities on this issue.

That applies to BOTH sides. There are a lot of people on the right who outright deny that man's activity is doing anything whatsoever to affect the climate. And I believe many do so with a motive as you describe - in order to further their priorities on seeing to it that we continue to burn lots of fossil fuels.

On this issue (climate change and CO2 elimination), just how is the "right" wanting to control your spending and alter your life habits?

I don't doubt you can find other issues where that might apply, but you ask why THIS issue is political.

When those waves sky over NYC, they're going to take your pocket book and your life if you call the boroughs your home. It may be a Katrina like hurricane, but it will happen if we don't start taking care of the climate.

You haven't been paying attention. IF that's ever going to happen, then it's going to happen regardless if we cut our CO2 emissions to ZERO right now. And that "we" means either JUST the USA or the entire world.

People have been predicting the end of the world for 100 years, due to "climate".

Just throwing this out there, but when the world was totally shut down in 2020, fuel consumption in the US only dropped about 14%.

It's not "my" graph, it's from NOAA. It shows each month's measurements and you can compare them with 2019 and 2018 and see an almost identical curve for each year, even though neither 2018 nor 2019 had any impacts due to COVID shutdowns.

I can explain that your numbers are horseshit as Neckbeard has explained so well. The drastic cooling period of the 1970s and the record warmth of the late 90s until today is all the proof needed to show that our temperatures are not at all normal. We have longer summers and winters but shorter falls and springs. That is a result of the jet stream having an omega shape throughout the whole earth. We have much more rapidly changing temperatures than we did 100 years ago.

Hurricanes are not getting worse like they predicted. People are moving into areas that have hurricanes at a high rate however. It’s CLIMATE change. A hurricane is weather. And we have only about 145 years of climate data to go by here.
