Decades ago they had plans for Mound and Van Dyke to both be one-way. Usually I hate one-way streets, but I definitely think, all things considered, Mound and Van Dyke make for a great candidate for one-way, at least from 696 up to hall

Wait. Are you saying that Mound, for example, would all be southbound but all of Van Dyke would be northbound? Is that the gist of it?

I've never ever seen that Mound / Van Dyke would have been one way streets in the 'burbs.

The original plan was for the M-53 limited access freeway to connect with the Mound corridor at about 18 Mile where it would have run down to the Davison Fwy. That's why the Mound/I-696 intersection was built the way it was/is. I've also read that the Davison/M-53 was supposedly going to connect to I-94.

Yes, Mound was supposed to be a freeway to downtown Detroit originally or at least a connector to I-94. The city of Warren said no.

That's why the Mound/I-696 intersection was built the way it was/is. I've also read that the Davison/M-53 was supposedly going to connect to I-94.

I could have sworn it was supposed to be from M-59 to I-696. I figured it made more sense because of the factories.

Anyway, looks like we're getting fucked again. Beautiful 50 degree day. Trades were out on the job sites getting shit done, snow was melting, people could do their jobs, it was a GREAT Goddamn day.

And then I get an alert. "Winter storm warning, expect 4-8". Like for real, fuck you. Just like the last time, we get a beautiful day with warm temps and inside of 12 hours, another fuckin foot of snow. It's the point in the season where it feels like it's never gonna end.

Ya know, if the computer models put together by scientists can't predict a snow storm that's three or four days out with any reliability, why exactly are we supposed to take their predictions on what's going to happen ten to twenty years from now seriously?

Because all we have to do is look at the progression of the global temperatures for the last 10 years. Even if temps remain flat, the ocean waters are going to continue to climb. The permafrost that has melted is also a wild card. Saw a very well informed documentary on PBS of how methane is escaping from melted permafrost. It starts a positive feedback cycle that only accelerates global warming. We are fastly approaching the tipping point.

Why is it that the billionaires are obsessed with getting on Mars and other planets? Do you think they are just bored?
