Should proof of covid vaccination be required to vote?
Should proof of covid vaccination be required to vote?
Any thoughts?
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

Right after a picture ID along with a voter registration card are presented prior to voting. And the requirement that absentee ballots are to be notarized.
Interesting that you don't give the option of a recent covid test showing negative.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

No. Why should COVID vaccination be required for voting? People can adhere to social distancing as they stand in line.
I like the absentee ballot notarization idea so long as confidentiality of the vote can be maintained. It is none of a notary's business to know for whom I voted.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

I’m ok with disinfecting machines in between votes. I’m ok with social distancing and mask mandates inside polling locations. I’m not ok with mandating vaccinations in order to partake in our most fundamental rights.

I'm confused about the notary thing. To vote absentee someone would have to pay a notary?

I don't believe anyone is suggesting this. Here in the great state of Ohio, Frank LaRose encouraged everyone to wear a mask while voting, buy election officials were instructed NOT to stop and force mask wearing. And, Ohio does require an ID, or a follow up visit the next day to change your provisional ballot to a real one.
Re: Should proof of covid vaccination be required to vote?
I think it is time we as a country recognize what a disaster all these mandates have been, get government 100% out of the business of mandating ANYTHING Covid-related, and move on with our normal lives.

Agreed.

Yeah. Social media is why the pandemic is still raging and why the impact of the fallout continues to pile up.
Matt - tell us exactly what government mandates have accomplished. I'll wait.

You claim to want to get back to normal, yet you rail against taking a safe vaccine that would allow that to happen with widespread usage. Words really don't mean much without action.

Re: Should proof of covid vaccination be required to vote?
I haven't railed against taking the vaccine. I've said you want to take it, then take it. That has always been my position. While I've expressed concerns about the long-term impacts of vaccinating a high percentage of the population as well as my belief that a lot of people are probably better off (as a group) with natural immunity, I've never ONCE said don't get vaccinated.
My position since the day the vaccine became widely available to anyone who wants it is that the government no longer has any business mandating anything. Anyone who wants to get vaccinated can get vaccinated. Anyone who doesn't want to shouldn't have to as they pose a threat to only themselves (assuming you believe the vaccines actually work). And don't bring up children who can't get it - the risk to them as a group is somewhere between zero and negligible and not even in the top 20 causes of death among that age group.
And you didn't answer my question. What exactly have government mandates accomplished? Again, I'll wait.

I didn't support the Biden mandate, so I'm not sure what you are after. I support mandates at individual entities, but they shouldn't need the government's cover to implement.
I think it makes sense to be vaccinated, and I believe we'd be through this nonsense if 90% of the eligible population was responsible AND vaccinated.

Re: Should proof of covid vaccination be required to vote?
I was left to assume you supported the mandates given how when I said they were a disaster, you instead pointed to unvaccinated people posting on social media as allegedly being the problem. That and the fact that you even had the nerve to ask if you should have to be vaccinated to vote.
And you STILL haven't answered my question. Am I left to assume that you agree with me that all the various government mandates haven't actually accomplished anything?

Re: Should proof of covid vaccination be required to vote?
Interesting. I voted a week ago. No mask. The guy that ripped the top off my ballot before I fed it in the machine didn't have a mask. No one was wiping down the booth after each use. And to be honest, I didn't give it much thought until I read your post.Chrocket87 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 6:51 pmI’m ok with disinfecting machines in between votes. Wait, so now it's 90%? What happened to 70%? Does 90% now get us to "herd immunity"?Matt wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 9:46 pmI didn't support the Biden mandate, so I'm not sure what you are after. I support mandates at individual entities, but they shouldn't need the government's cover to implement.

When we get to 90%, is it going to change to 95% because we still have nearly the same results?
