Frank Turner

Unread post by AuburnViewer »

Frank Turner is out at Channel 5. On Facebook he posted "I was unceremoniously let go afterwards because I don't want to share the studio unmasked with other colleagues. I guess they'd rather not have me at all than accommodate me on the mask in a pandemic."

Judging from comments on social media, viewers are not happy. If I were WJRT or WEYI, I'd be making some phone calls.

WNEM has replied with this statement:
"WNEM did not terminate Frank Turner. WNEM has specific COVID-19 protocols in place developed in consultation with medical experts. We wish Mr. Turner the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Is David Custer part of the PR team too? That's quite a half-hearted statement left by 5. It makes you wonder what is happening "Behind The Scenes"

Looks like a pretty typical corporate statement smalls. And not David, just find the obsession that you all have with him somewhat concerning.

I don't understand what exactly happened here. Frank is a good newsman who's respected in the community. From his Facebook post, its sounds like he was wronged in some way. But there is likely another side to the story. In the meantime from a P-R standpoint, TV 5 is taking a hit.

David Lee is not really embraced in the community outside of his cult following. Is there really anyone left at 5 worth watching?

I hope he goes to 12 or 25. WNEM's signal is a joke.

Problem is that 25/66’s owner is even worse than TV5 management

Their viewpoints more closely match.

Didn't he leave Detroit to pursue some kind of Christian Mission?

It seems like there was a story behind it, but I cant find it anywhere.
