Would this be a good move for 98.7?

Unread post by Deleted User 15502 »

A more goldish based modern rock format, I'm not talking like what Planet 96.3 was 20 years ago, which played so much odd(but good) obscure stuff. I'm talking something more 90s and early 2000s based. A lot of old 89x listeners, that grew up with the station I think(including me) would want to hear more stuff my generation(I was born 1980) is familiar with. The current model there using didn't work on 106.7 and doesn't work this signal either.

Reminds me of SXM’s Lithium playlist - and that’s a good thing

But CBS Radio, er, Infinity, er, Audacy doesn’t and won’t get it….

They literally couldn't fuck the station up more if they tried. They need to get rid of Church of Lazlo and stop interrupting songs for their short commercials for starters.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

NEVER EVER COMPLY WITH FASCISM!!!

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

You bet your sweet bippy it would work. I bet it gets higher than a 1.6 share.

Now play "Mood" again, guys. I haven't heard Billie Eilish in 20 minutes, either.

The Church of Lazlo just seems like a bad parody of awful radio morning zoos... in the afternoon.
I'm here for a good, hearty debate, to agree and disagree respectfully, and commiserate on the current state of terrestrial radio.

It seems kind of obvious to me, but I'm just a radio listener.

"90's/early 2000's Modern Rock Detroit Grew up with 98.7 The X"

" All the 90s Modern rock lives here, 98.7 The X"

" WXDG :) Detroit" (WXDG is available).

That's what kills me. If it was a morning show, fine. You're literally stopping the music on what is branded a music station. Again, 4, 5 voices yapping. What's the point?

Dump the morning show and go music intensive.

"No lame morning show, just the best modern rock from the 90s and 2000's, 98-7 The X."

" On other Detroit stations you have to through this " Styx-Lady" or this " Vanessa Carelton- 1000 miles" to get this " Alive Pearl Jam 98-7 The X"

" WXGG(or WXDG) Detroit, the best modern rock of the 90s and 2000's , 98-7 The X."

" drop the first 8 and make it a 9, 98-7 The X"

" Airwalk shoes, flannel, Walkman's, Beepers, dial up internet Life was awesome wasn't it?, re-live all the the glory of it all, 98-7 The X"

MWmetalhead wrote: Fri May 07, 2021 6:58 am Going to a strongly rock alternative playlist and branding the station as "The X" makes far too much sense, which is why the brain trust (read: morons) running Audacy won't do it.
I think low to mid-level programmers would be all over taking this kind of risk, but upper management is perfectly happy having multopoly operations in a market and being competitive no longer matters. There is such overlap among their properties that anyone still interested in a serious radio advertising campaign is going to have to come to them regardless.

Traditional radio broadcasting is in a race to the bottom.

I’d love to see a format that picked up where WHYT was with their ‘Channel X’ format in 1994 and included music along those lines to 2003 or so. Bring back Greg St. James or Scott Vertical to hold morning drive, with a music intensive format the rest of the day.
