The WWV Song (5-10-15-20-25-30...). Actually, they did operate on 30 MHz (and 35 MHz ) until 1953. When they do their "TOH" ID, I always expect them to break into this song.

I know they dropped the 25MHz transmitter for a while, but now it's back. I hear it sometimes when the E-layer forms up.
Sometimes I hear CHU on 14670 kHz but it's real unusual short skip for them to reach Detroit !

I'm guessing that occurs not from ordinary F layer skip, rather from the more elusive Sporadic-E propagation.

On New Years's Eve a few months ago, I tried to tune into WWV at 2400hrsZ to see if there was a leap second. I could get nothing on 10 MHz, which usually comes in loud and clear. The WWV signal on 5MHz came in good, but at 2358, some station in South Carolina popped on, and walked all over WWV. The same thing happened a year ago, only it popped on at 2359.

Late nights I get WWV best at 5 MHz and fair on 2.5, but you need some outside wire antenna to hear the lower freqs.
CHU is great on 3330 kHz, here near Detroit, all night and mornings and evenings. ! When the summer thunderstorm season comes, those freqs get really noisy.

The F layer is pretty poor lately
