Thoughts on Rush Limbaugh's legacy

Nine years ago this month Limbaugh went after Sandra Fluke on the air. Long story short, she was an unmarried college law school student who testified before a congressional committee. She said birth control should be included in faith based insurance plans. Limbaugh, who lost advertisers, called her a slut and a prostitute before he issued a partial apology.

This was the same Limbaugh who several years earlier, and also unmarried, was caught carrying Viagra into this country from the Dominican Republic where he had been on vacation.

On his radio show Limbaugh said Customs officials didn't believe him when he said he got the pills at the Clinton Library and he was told they were blue M&Ms. He later added, chuckling: "I had a great time in the Dominican Republic. Wish I could tell you about it."

That hypocrisy is how I've always thought of him.

I keep hearing over and over today about how AM radio had "revival" because of rush and AM radio also FM radio supercedes siriusXM and podcasts and etc, what a hunk of crap.

This went through my mind yesterday as I was contemplating Mr. Limbaugh. Now that the EIB, for all intents and purposes, no longer has a 'mouth,' wouldn't it be interesting if Trump Enterprises purchased it and it became a 'bully pulpit' for his . . . . thoughts?

I had to listen to the blowhard for several years while running his show. In the beginning you could hear his DJ roots and sometimes it was decent radio. I'll say this, his interview skills, even early on, were better than Sean Hannity's could ever be.

That being said, I'm glad he's dead. The year or so surrounding his hearing loss were some of the worst prime-time radio I'd ever heard. The fact that he got a slap on the wrist during the whole opioid episode made me sick. I'm actually kinda glad that his cigar habit may have been a direct cause of his death.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I don't believe in hell, but if there is one, I hope he's there.

Sounds like you might need to see someone for some help with issues you have here. It's one thing to judge a person on his career, another to be glad they are dead. I wonder who will say that after you are gone.

Wow how jealousy rears its ugly head. Well Ms. Fluke stated her and her friends paid over $3,000 out of pocket for birth control while in college. Did she have any time to study or testify before congress?

As long as you ask......Fluke received her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Georgetown Law in 2012. She passed the California bar exam in July 2012, and was admitted to practice in the state on December 11, 2012,

She and her husband live in West Hollywood with their dog, Mr. President. They have no children.

Looking back, no question Rush was (especially in early years) a Brilliant broadcaster - knew his audience and knew exactly what he was doing. A lot of people made a lot of money of his show - especially in the early years.

That said, the man was a horrible human - and knew full well what he was doing. We could all find numerous examples (there are many over the years). The one that stands out to me is "Celebrating" the deaths of people (with SFX, fanfare and general mockery) of people dying of AIDS during the epidemic in the 90's. He went as far as to say the Ryan White story (for those who don't remember, he was a little boy that contracted AIDS from a transfusion) was all media hype over nothing and all the celebrities that were getting involved in the AIDS crisis were nothing but grandstanders and in it for the money and recognition and probably had AIDS themselves. A Boy just died of AIDS through no fault of his own and that was Rush's contribution... You sir - are a vile human. Never wish death on people but as Twain said -

"I didn’t attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it."

He will not be missed in my orbit - ever.

I won't care what people say about me, because I'll be slowly rotting away in the ground, waiting to get swallowed by the sun eventually and returned to the stars.

The man had a segment called "AIDS Update" where he mocked the death of gay people who had HIV. He called President Obama "Barack the magic negroe". He called a 12 year old Chelsea Clinton "The White House dog".

Hell is too good for him, but it'll have to do until Satan comes up with something better.

I truly believe that the gates of Hell opened yesterday upon his death for his entrance there. I have ZERO empathy or sympathy for this racist vile piece of . He greatly contributed, in the past 30 years, to the H*** division within this country. A true provocateur of hate in this country. And for him to get a Presidential Medal of Freedom from tRump last year was a slap in the face to all the completely deserving people who received it prior to him...

I wasn't a fan of Rush only listened a handful of times largely with grandpa & stepdad. I'm not going to judge as that is up to God/Jesus I don't celebrate a death even for those that I don't like.

So basically, you don't agree with Limbaugh's views on politics, therefore he deserved his fate and you're glad he's dead, all because you don't like what he believes in...I bet you're a riot at family get togethers...
