Michigan (ex) Governor Jennifer Granholm coming back to government...

Post by bmw » Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:44 pm

...to lead the Department of Energy. :barf
President-elect Joe Biden is poised to tap former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm to lead the Department of Energy, two people familiar with the matter say, inviting a longtime adviser who played a critical role in his debate preparations over the years to join his Cabinet.

Granholm has long taken a deep interest in energy issues and was considered to be a top candidate for Energy secretary if Hillary Clinton had won four years ago. Now, she will have her chance, if confirmed by the Senate.

This time, it will be four years until she's blown away...

Pete is from a moderate size town of South Bend, so maybe he has experience paving a driveway?

Whitmer doesn't want it. I truly think she wants to stay and fix things here.

That said, Granholm is a bad pick. We had a one state recession because of her.

We had a one state recession because of normalized trade relations from China and a severe manufacturing recession as a result. These two things happened in 2000 and 2002 respectively... she took office in 2003. Ultimately we were the canary in the coal mine for 2008.

Interesting perspectives from your hayseed life. Where is it that you spent your postgraduate years?
Buttigieg is a graduate of Harvard College and Oxford University, attending the latter on a Rhodes Scholarship. He was a consultant at the management consulting firm McKinsey from 2007 to 2010.[7] From 2009 to 2017, he was an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant. He was mobilized and deployed to Afghanistan for seven months in 2014.[8]

Considering the next administration is shaping up to be Obama 2.5 or 3.0, Grandholm heading up Energy would almost give the illusion of new blood there :lol

Ready for $5.00-7.50/gallon gas?

Meanwhile, congrats to Pete! Stellar addition to President Biden’s cabinet. One of the best spoken, best educated, and bravest men ever to serve his country here at home and overseas. Will be a dedicated, smart, long overdue “eye on public safety” Secretary of Transportation.

So Michigan's recession was Bill Clinton's fault?
During her terms, Michigan’s GDP growth was "worst in the nation" according to PolitiFact. While Granholm tried to attribute her state’s dismal growth to cuts in the state budget, PolitiFact said, "They weren’t the primary cause of the state’s poor economic performance."

Citing economic analyst Patrick Anderson of East Lansing, PolitiFact said "Long-term troubles in the automotive industry, the national recession and raising taxes on businesses and individuals ‘were all partially to blame.’"

Granholm actually presided over the "highest tax increases in the history of Michigan," Idaho representative Raul Labrador said during a debate with Granholm, a statement that PolitiFact, not known for its favorable treatment of Republicans, did not dispute.
I sure hope her "green energy' initiatives work out a WHOLE lot better than her "green energy" plan at the old Ford Wixom plant. What she touted as a hub for green energy, arraigned federal loans and tax breaks for, with the promise of 2,800 new and high paying jobs, is now a General RV and a Menards...
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.

I think she's been called a "tool" a few times too.

Now there's going to be one more mole in the Biden Administration, at least it's from Canada instead of China.

The Mayor Pete appointment made me laugh because as mayor of South Bend the pot holes in city streets could double as swimming pools...Great choice there President Elect Biden...
