Hopefully the playlist isn't trash like last year, playing the same 5 songs by 20 different artists.
It's looking hopeful right now, as they just played a goodie: "Merry Christmas Baby" by the Beach Boys.

The ghost of the original WLLZ is awakened on Halloween to haunt the airwaves this holiday season.
Scrooge gets a visit from the Ghost of Radio Past, when 98.7 wasn't a slave to the Endless Christmas Music Sales Train, and we got to celebrate our holiday season in a respectful and restrained manner.
Did they segue from "Monster Mash" to "Monster's Holiday"?

Don't be so negative. It's called competing with WNIC.
It's needed.
And it's certainly welcome by me. Iheart's corporate playlist has like 20 songs, which NIC is forced to use.
Tim Roberts thinks outside the Box.
Remember that WOMC Christmas playlist from 2013? I had that on 24/7, even while I slept. I heard songs I didn't even know existed.

I call it fucking lame. Perhaps EVERY station should flip to all Christmas, so they can compete with each other?

All I remember is 98.7 getting clobbered in the ratings by 100.3 last year. It'll happen again this year.
When WOMC did Christmas music, I always thought the station sounded like crap. Muddy audio + some weird song selections.

You forgot to say “All New” 98.7.
For the regular format, I know that you can’t fare well in the Nielsens with a large playlist, but I’ve always been amazed that they have the same, very small playlist for a long time. Don’t similar formatted stations in the country have larger playlists?

All the corporate stations' Christmas rotations suck. Although I agree Entercom does it better than iHeart.
I typically don't listen to Christmas music on the radio at all - just create an Amy Grant/Carpenters playlist on YouTube, and that way I know every track will be good. No hippo song, no Band Aid, no Grandma Got Run Over. But if I had to pick one station to be stuck with all-Christmas, it would be WLEN in Adrian. They wait until after Thanksgiving, they have a big playlist, and they stop the Christmas music on Fridays for oldies. WHMI also has a nice holiday playlist on Christmas Eve and Day, and I wouldn't mind hearing that all season long (but not until after Turkey Day, please).

I won't be listening to any Christmas music until December 15th. That station is irrelevant anyways.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Boring, unoriginal, and lazy programming. What are the PD's getting paid for?

Remember when they were V 98.7 Smooth Jazz. How far they have fallen.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

I liked AMP radio personally.

V98.7 still exists on their HD2 channel.
Thank goodness for that.
I’ll pass on the Christmas/holiday playlist until Thanksgiving. Not sure why they feel the need to “stuff this” at us the way they do.

Re: 98.7 The Breeze flips to all Christmas on Halloween night
I take what I said back. This playlist is terrible.
The repeating songs every hour isn't the problem though, its the song selections. Generic stuff, with 5 different reneditions, with only a teeny tiny select non traditionals.
The playlist WOMC has had since 2017 (even if for only 2 days in '18 and '19) should have been copy and pasted. I actually hoped they would repeat songs often. I would sit there excited, actually anticipating the repeat of each song in an hour or 2.
Who's the PD currently? Do they even have one?
