The number one political issue in the United States is Covid, and Michigan Republicans fought to make things worse. Let's hope our voters don't forget this at the polls.

On Wednesday, Michigan surpassed 150,000 cases of the disease caused by the coronavirus. The state recently passed a grisly milestone, recording more than 7,000 deaths because of COVID-19. Daily case rates have surged recently, pushing the average 7-day case rate to more than 1,800 as of Tuesday. As Whitmer noted, that's the highest rate since the start of the pandemic.

She also argued there may be a connection between the timing of when Michigan Supreme Court decisions invalidated her executive orders and the rise of COVID-19 cases in the state.

On Oct. 2, Michigan Supreme Court rulings invalidated dozens of executive orders issued by Whitmer in response to the pandemic. Case rates were already on the rise at the time, but the 7-day average case rate has essentially doubled since that day, according to state data.
