Ron Cameron
Re: Ron Cameron
A desperately rambling Ron must be thinking that Kurt’s dead. Even if he did call the first hour.

Kurt hasn't called in twice for a couple weeks. He must be fed up too.

He mentioned something about getting cash and gas so I think you're right.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 3:48 pmIt has to be the BP gas station because I never heard that ad before
Re: Ron Cameron
I’m not counting on Mark Wilson, despite Ron’s assurances. And we were so very close to making it through a weekend without a ‘Bea Arthur was a man’ reference.
Re: Ron Cameron
Alex, I really wish you would ask Ron, even if it’s off-air, about the basis for his very casual, but quite serious, pronouncement that the missing caller Gutterball Tony was dead & report back. Since I don’t know how this news, if true, would ever get to Ron, I’m assuming that, rather than admitting the distinct possibility that he had lost a listener, certainly a caller, he just decided to declare this relatively young man dead. Ron’s guilty of any number of squirrelly offenses, but if my hunch is correct this has to go right to the front of the line.

Alex,
Does Ron just drive around everyday stopping at random business' looking for sponsors? I can't imagine people reaching out to him.

Re: Ron Cameron
They weren’t a sponsor for very long, but, yes, Ron would read their commercials.
Re: Ron Cameron
Re: Ron Cameron
If the latter, I have to assume Ron's mind was only on Cory Lidle.

Re: Ron Cameron
No he calls new businesses or ones with new owners and attempts to set an appointment up to come to the business and get the ad sold. As far as Gutterball Tony, he like Ken from Livonia may have known Ron off air and spoke with him from time to time and a mutual acquaintance would have told him. That's how he found out about Ken passing. Otherwise, it's reckless.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 4:40 pmAlex,

About 35 years ago, I worked a part time job with this guy who sold ads for Ron. He said Ron told him to call up businesses and make up stories about other businesses saying that business should advertise on Ron's show.1alexalway wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 9:24 pmNo he calls new businesses or ones with new owners and attempts to set an appointment up to come to the business and get the ad sold. Re: Ron Cameron
Alex, with the Rays headed for the Series, please correct the record on Friday with Ron about Willy Adames. Kurt, a more than willing recipient of Ron's questionable intelligence, e.g., the "death" of Gutterball Tony, mentioned that Adames was a former Tigers' minor-leaguer. Amazingly, and with zero pushback from Kurt, Ron rejected any idea that Adames had any prior connection to the Tigers. But as any regular observer of the Tigers - let alone a longtime Detroit sports talk show host - would know, Adames was, even as a mere 18-year old prospect in the system, a key component for Tampa Bay in the 2014 trade that sent David Price to the Tigers:

Re: Ron Cameron
When he had Paul Woods on last week, he brought up the same lie he has repeated over and over about the NHL playoffs not in a bubble, and Paul Woods said they were in a bubble and Ron just brushed it off. He makes things up, he's told the truth, and keeps on repeating the same lie. Ron should have been in politics.
