Morning show switch at 100.7 WITL

Post by MWmetalhead » Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:53 pm

I was surprised to learn that 100.7 WITL is replacing its morning show!

The prior tandem of Banana Don and Stephanie McCoy has left. Did they accept jobs elsewhere? Or were they forced out?

I cannot speak for ratings in the morning drive daypart, but in the weeklong ratings, 100.7 WITL was the leading the station in the market (beauty pageant, ages 12+) for two of the past three books. Sister station WMMQ narrowly outranked them in the spring 2020 book.

The new show features Cadillac Jack - former middayer at WYCD - and someone named Erica Gray.

Cadillac Jack is a highly talented on-air personality; I was pissed off upon learning he was replaced at 'YCD by an out of market voicetracker. ... n-lansing/

Rock 95.5 in Chicago is the worst sounding major market rock station in the history of corporate radio.

It's Townsquare. They were let go because they made too much money.

Stephanie McCoy is now at TV10 (WILX) co-host of new Studio 10 show starting next month.

Banana Don is a stand-up guy. Very personable, on and off-air. Reminds me a lot of Allan Gibbs (another Wittle morning alum). Sad to hear he was let go. Unfortunately it's the nature of the business. First thing I learned from my radio instructor in college is that job security is at the bottom of the list (if it's even on the list). I believe Don & Stepanie's morning show lasted nearly 20 years, which is a long run by today's standards.

Stephanie is a great person as well. Sounds like she found a great career opportunity at WILX. I wish them both the best!

If you ask who I'm voting for, I'll tell you I'm voting for the person I'm voting for.
