Channel 50 is picking up the recently concluded Canadian Sitcom Schitt's Creek. This is the first new show they've added in a couple of years. I've seen the first two episodes on CBC and It's pretty funny. Has anyone else out there seen this show? Do you think it's a good choice? (I've always really liked The Big Bang Theory but after nine years it's getting kind of stale.)

We know Netflix and Hulu exist, yes?

You know this is the "Michigan Radio and TV Buzzboard", yes?

Why would we care about streaming internet here?

Because who wouldn't want to watch commercials or watch when the network decides?

Some of us like watching FREE TV instead of paying for it.

Schitt's Creek was kind of a sleeper that took a season or two to get noticed. It wasn't an immediate hit like This Is Us or Lost. Most CBC shows are kind of under the radar.

Schitt's Creek will start airing on 50 at 2:30 AM Tuesday Morning,(Monday night.) I guess it's on so late is because of the name.

I also thought that FOX picked up syndication rights to it, but Fox 2 isn't airing it either...

I think it will win a Golden Globe Award come January of 2021 & someone will open the envelope & say "No shit, Schitt's Creek!!"

You may be paying for it when ATSC 3.0 becomes reality. ATSC3.0 and the internet will work together in this new generation of television. The Networks want you to buy their product and NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox want to make money and be on an even playing field with internet, cable and satellite. So it could be bye-bye free television in the next 10 years.

Everyone is allowed to dream big, even Network TV executives.

There is a finite pool of money that people are willing to spend on TV, and now they'll get to compete for it with every other source out there. Good luck with that. I still have some contacts in the business, and the pie-in-the-sky ideas they're banking on to make money with ATSC 3.0 are just silly. Such as, pushing the auto industry to use ATSC 3.0 to do automotive systems and infotainment software updates.

Uh, TV Executive, ever here of 4G LTE that's already in many cars?

So yeah, wish 'em luck with their plans to make OTA a subscription service. If I'm paying for TV, it'll be sans commercials.
