No way in hell will there be a college football season. COVID-19 is spreading like wildfire and the only reason people don't know or acknowledge it right now is because restrictions were lifted.
Pipe down, Nancy. Herd immunity is likely developing. Hospitals are not overwhelmed.
Sorry mongoloid, no evidence of herd Immunity
You seem like a highly intelligent individual. /s

The professional players get paid, they have unions to represent them. These college players don't have those protections - and that's why we won't have college football in the Fall this year.

We could have it in the Spring, but that's rather doubtful too.

Thanks to inaction by our President and the suck-up Republican Governors (not all of them were suck-ups, DeWine, Hogan and Baker did a really good job). And thanks to all the cult followers thinking they are Mel Gibson in Braveheart screaming for Freedom as they are being tortured over wearing a piece of cloth over their face, this outbreak will go on and on and on. We're still only in the beginning of this. The hard part is coming 6 months from now when we have a severe economic crash. But don't worry, the billionaires will be fine.

Just wearing a mask would have done wonders. Just that simple thing.

In college, players can easily change around class schedules so they can stay an extra semester (fall 2021) if they're on track to graduate this school year and aren't potential NFL players.

If there is no season in the fall, I could see the existing spring ball season be slightly expanded (more practice days, maybe an inter-squad scrimmage or two)

To be honest, it really wouldn't bother me for pro and college to skip a season. Take a year off.
I like sports. I enjoy watching the Lions, Tigers and Wings lose another one.
(I do enjoy March Madness, but I've never got into pro basketball).
And maybe it's because we seem to have some flailing pro teams lately, I'm finding I just don't see an urgent need to throw a ball or slap a puck right away.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Might as well call it the MSU show from now on.

Although Sullivan's voice was as pleasant as nails on a chalk board, at least he isn't a complete assclown.

Rico Beard is a bad person and an insufferable MSU fanboy.

I haven't listened to Valenti since March. It will be a long, long time before I listen again.

This will prove to be a disaster, just like when the station attempted to pair Braylon Edwards with Valenti.

How you can have a sports station on the air in the city of Detroit with NO black hosts?

Am I missing something about Rico?

No, it's just the station has not had a 6a - 12m black host since Terry Foster left - what, 3 years ago? And they really only had 1 since then - in the overnight with Brian Chapman. That's ridiculous.

I agree that is indeed ridiculous, but Beard shouldn't be hired simply to fill a racial quota.

I mean, seriously, *he* is the best Entercom can do?!?! My guess is Entercom "got what they paid for."

Every African American who has ever done sports radio in this market has ranged from mediocre to terrible in terms of "takes." Terry Foster was probably the least objectionable of a very bad lot. Worst? Tough question, but I'll go with Eric Pate.

Would be great if a strong African American sports radio professional from a top 20 market not named Detroit could be hired to work here.

I have not tuned in to Valenti since March. I could only take so much of his anti- U-M rants. I guess I have a couple reasons not to listen anymore. See ya!

Rico Beard is nothing more than a one trick pony so all people will hear about is MSU recruits and sports. Rico's knowledge of any sport not having a Spartan logo attached to it is zero. Might as well call it the Spartan Show.

Not a fan. Jeez, if the only qualification was skin color I'd rather they went with Chapman.

I never said that the only qualification or that was the reason he was hired. I just said it's about time they had a black host on a Detroit station other than in the middle of the night.
