Much like Covid, I believe this will get worse before it even starts thinking about getting better.

This is another one of those "we got caught with our pants down" situations. That train is rolling full steam ahead, and then something unexpected derails it. You can bet your ass these companies are taking a good, hard look at ratings vs. revenue to see who's even worth keeping around. While it could fare well for WWJ, over at WXYT, this could be detrimental. It started with the Tigers and Wings sucking ass. Less listenership. Then Art Van sinks (mentioned above), all sports are cancelled, and ad revenue drops like a concrete turd.

A part of me wonders, would Entercom do something crazy in the face of saving a few bucks? I'm thinking a simulcast of some sort. WWJ on 97.1 in the less important dayparts and on weekends. Layoffs for most of that station. Even on another frequency. The odds are probably against it, but I wouldn't count it out. We don't know how long this will last. Valenti alone pulls quite a bit of coin. But with no sports to speak of, aside from the sparse NFL news, what the hell is the point?

We talk about WLLZ hiring Anne and Scott, but let's be real, they're already notorious tightwads, so big money won't be spent now with all this. I'm expecting to hear of more cutbacks and layoffs...and outright firings. I'm not sure if any numbers have come out yet, but I'm very interested in seeing what changes came about when this virus outbreak got hot. It wouldn't shock me to see WJR and WWJ be the main beneficiaries of all this. I mentioned earlier that I'm not really interested in jamming out rawk tunez, and with business all but shut down, who the hell is? I bet listenership is way down on the music stations.

This shit is gonna be B.A.D.

One of the other layoffs is longtime WYCD personality Chuck Edwards. Gone after 20 years at the station. WYCD midday host "Cadillac Jack" is also out, plus a creative services director as well. A personality in Cleveland who used to be part of Mojo in the Morning is another casualty.

Lance Howard lost his gig Friday after 30 years reporting traffic on WWJ.

Never was a fan of Dennis Fithian. Once in a great while he'd deliver a great show. Most of the time his content & analysis were both very bland and not well formed.

Caroline Beasley is ruining WRIF. What a bitch!!!

Who was that guy that did the overnight shift on 97.1? He was African American. I forgot his name, is he still around? What about Dan Leach?

Wait, nevermind Brian Chapman is worse.

Fithian's shtick of calling people trolls for calling out his ridiculous takes got tiresome fast.

Yes! Are these people even around anymore? Oh man, Eric Thomas is another name from the past that was very whiny.

I remember listening back in the day to Kevin Wall. That was bad radio. Or Marc Spindler on the morning drive.

I've heard Chapman and Leach on as recent as three weeks ago (I think. The days are running together now). Between the Tiger replays, the classic game replays and the national talkers, it's a lost cause.

Sure beats Spindler, though. Dark, DARK days.

Eric Thomas, while having some talent, was another one of those guys that thought he was going to be the next Howard. Came and went. What bullshit did he wind up doing though, got him fired?

And it appears Entercom is looking for volunteers to take 10-20 percent pay cuts to avoid more layoffs:
