Kentucky Craps on Trump. Look out McConnell!

Post by screen glare » Tue Nov 05, 2019 10:54 pm

Kentucky Republican Governor Bevin - for whom Trump campaigned fervently - and Bevin bloviated his love of Trump - all on election eve - is now OUT!

Do you think Mitch Is wondering about his own chances of reelection in The Blue Grass State? I say his ass is grass. And his do nothing, obstructionist record is the gasoline for voter’s loud lawnmower!!!!

Let's see how the turkey pivots away from Cheeto Baby Hands now...

In Kentucky, Mr. Bevin had focused his campaign on his alignment with President Trump and his opposition to impeachment, with the president holding a rally on Monday in Lexington to reciprocate the support. Mr. Beshear has been buoyed by the governor's diminished popularity — Mr. Bevin is among the least popular governors in the country.

Virginia Democrats won both the House of Delegates and the State Senate on Tuesday. All 140 legislative seats were on the ballot and Democrats took full control of state government for the first time since 1994. Democrats had a significant fund-raising advantage in Tuesday's races, while Republicans had hoped to hold on to suburban seats that have sent its lawmakers to Richmond for decades.

Love it! Bevin is so divisive and nasty. Good call KY. Bevin has yet to concede as of now. Mitch almost lost 2008 I remember, despite the fact McCain took KY by a wide margin. Reeves won in MS, not shocked.

If you truly know anything about Kentucky History you then know last night was no surprise. Kentucky has historically been a state who had a Democrat in the Gov's office. Either 6 or 7 Repub gov's since 1900 and none of served two terms. Google in your friend.

I think there was a GOP Governor in the 80s, then Fletcher from 04-08 and now Bevin 16-20. KY seems to have a thing for moderate Democrat Governors for some reason. Fletcher was involved in some scandal If I recall. Bevin, is just so far out of the mainstream as well as very boorish , sort of like a radio shock jock, take no prisoners type.

I've been to KY many times, the people there seem to have much better manners and act better in public, then some I see regularly here in NW Ohio/SE MI . Just an observation.

In MS, this was really the dems last chance at as statewide for sometime. Reeves was younger and more energetic then Hood, He came off as more clear about what he wanted to do as governor and Hood seemed to have to do everything he could, to distance himself from the national party. Gov.Bryant is popular so that helped too.

When The late Kirk Fordice won in 1991, that was a total game changer in MS. Since then, only 1 Democrat has served as governor, Ronnie Musgrove from 2000-2004. The election of 99 was basically a tie and the other candidate would not concede so, the MS house of Reps choose Musgrove. Musgrove lost to Haley Barbour in 2003.

Thanks zzand for context. What one is left with after reading your post? KY has reverted to sane - after dabbling with insane.

Buh-bye, Brain-Blowen Bevin.
Take That, Temp Trump.
Move on, Once Mighty Mitch.

Your FORMER voters? Woke.

Got their horse sense back. Must be the Blue Grass.

all I know is that the candidate supported heartily by Donald Trump has lost.

trump won the state by 30 points in 2016. This doesn't bode well for the sociopath-in-chief.

It certainly hurts the Trump coalition and democrats can be happy about that.
But given the information from zz and wzrc about Kentucky's pretty overwhelming history of democrats as Governors a Trump supporter (I am NOT one) might take some positives that the results are pretty razor thin.
In a state with a history of democratic Governors why didn't he win be a bigger margin?

Sounds like Bevin's support with Trump voters was quite divided as well, so I think swing voters who voted for trump broke ranks for The Democrat . Mitch should be nervious, I think the dems will take a shot at the senate seat next year.

People tired of Trump. He’s president cra cra. He’s shown that to the entire world - over and over. Outrageous stuff.

He’s now being escorted out. People are tired of his me first, liar, hate everyone but gullible scared white guys, no empathy, no literacy, greedy, grubbing, no soul, no true love of anything money can’t buy, “your lives are cheap”, has been, con artist.

People are just sick of his schtick. Like watching a daily dark-hearted TV/Twitter sit com - “Chaos R Us.”

I hope you guys are right...but I dunno. Polls said he didn't have a prayer in 2016 too. Idiot Dems are either going to run a borderline-senile Biden who could crack on the debate stage, or a socialist leaning Warren who scares the hell out of a great many people. I'm afraid we're gonna get 4 more years of this psycho, and a second term Trump is infinately scarier than the disaster he has been so far.

Sorry to interrupt your little circle jerk about the most unpopular governor in America (amazingly even LESS popular than 26% approval Whitmer!!!) losing an election that he was expected to lose, but here's a little homework for you:

1. Google the 2014 Kentucky primary.
2. Google Daniel Cameron

Report back on your answers! No cheating!

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

Don't think this was Kentucky crapping on Trump, this was Kentucky crapping on Bevin. By about 5,000 votes.

Kentucky also elected a fervent Trump supporter to the office of AG, According to the NY Times:

He was also the first black person to be independently elected to a statewide office in Kentucky, and the first Republican attorney general elected in the state in more than 70 years.

Wonder how the loons are going to figure out how to call a black guy racist.

New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
