1690 WMLB
1690 WMLB
Is this station in central GA still operating or has it gone dark? it used to put up a decent fight with WPTX (MD) and WVON (IL) early at night, but WPTX has been dominant on 1690kHz for a while as of late. I could usually hear WMLB under the CA station just before sunrise local time, but now just WPTX vs WVON. WMLB had a very different format and was worth the DXing effort. I miss hearing them.

Re: 1690 WMLB
Wikipedia, for what it’s worth, says it has been silent since last year.

Re: 1690 WMLB
The guy who ran it was operating it at a loss, and decided to shut it down last year:

WMLB had pretty good programming. Pretty sad it's gone.

Being on 1690 in Central Georgia, its skywave signal is more important than its groundwave.
Putting anything on 1690 in Georgia is insane!
