Yes, light "pollution", which is basically city lights. Finally figured it out when I spotted the "delta" of Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland. They are slightly separated from Flint, Pontiac, Ann Arbor, and Toledo, which are continuous with Detroit. You see Cleveland, Lansing, Toronto, Grand Rapids, and even Traverse City on this map. The link was given to us by the VP of the Warren Astronomical Society lecturer, who did a free talk at our Library. He said it was Detroit, but that we would have to go out to 29 Mile Rd. to see well. We couldn't figure out where that was, but finally figured out it was an observatory out there. We had fun looking. Saw a bunch of impressive new homes, several deer and many fireflies outside the Catholic Retreat, but was informed that trees now prevented seeing the Ren Cen from Stony Creek Metropark. We'll check out the Observatory and Dark Sky Park when we can.
Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?
