Bernie the Blooper Boy :Perhaps SIX decades at WDIV .
Why does Bernie Smilovitz' hackneyed sportscasts seeming escape criticism ? Yes,he seems a good dude, but Smilovitz, who must be close to my age (sixty-five) will have been on WDIV throughout SIX DECADES (70's,80's,90's,00's,10's,20's) should he hit the airwaves on and after Jan. 1,2020. Like Valenti-who re-affirmed his jerk status by calling admittedly disappointing Lions DT Nick Fairley "trash" during the five o'clock hour-Smilovitz returned to his home state ,New York for an audition at a station, and like the Studio Gangsta, was kicked back to Detroit. Guess New Yorkers don't find slightly updated iterations of decades-long schtick funny . Anyway, thought you lads might have some opinions about Bernie the (nearly senior citizen) Blooper Boy .

I can't think of any criticism for Bernie, either. However, 101: You constantly post the same opinions over and over. Yeah, yeah.. It's your right. But, at least don't complain about other idiots who do similar things.
Blessings to you and yours,

Bernie started at WDIV in 1986, FYI. The rest of this rant? I can't even begin to wrap my head around it. Peace be with you, man.

You said he was close to your age, but does he have your boyish good looks?

What was the point and message of the original post? I'm not even sure what this post is about.

Your original post made no sense.
It may have made at least some sense If you had used proper grammar and punctuation marks, possibly.

If Bernie started 6 Decades ago and is 65 years old currently he started working at Channel 4 when he was 5 years old, Damn! That’s F’ing incredible what an amazing career.borderboy653659200 wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2019 6:58 pmWhy does Bernie Smilovitz' hackneyed sportscasts seeming escape criticism ? Well, next year will mark Bernie's FIFTH decade (80's,90's,00's,10's,20's) on Channel Four . I just thought he began in the seventies,my mistake . Sorry also for the poor grammar ,but as for anti-Semitism,well,one of my best buds is Jewish, though unlike you clowns who use that line about blacks when you are called to account for a racist remark, Mike Barat, one of my closest pals,IS of the Hebraic faith .

Well,if Bernie had some plastic surgery ,he could acquire my boyish good looks .(Remember, boyos, black don't crack;we had to get SOMETHING out of this deal . )

Re: Bernie the Blooper Boy :Perhaps SIX decades at WDIV .
I meant that Smilovitz has been on Channel Four DURING five different decades ,NOT that he's been at WDIV for a half-century ,an impossibility given that he's at least several years my junior .
Re: Bernie the Blooper Boy :Perhaps SIX decades at WDIV .
According to this bio, he's been at WDIV since 1986:

I think he's become the sports version of Sonny Eliot. Something that's overly familiar, but something that is never going to change and connects people to the past. Kind of like an eccentric old uncle.
When he comes on, I listen to the straight sports reporting, but then turn him off when he gets into the silly stuff, with all the predictably lame laughter from the other people on the news desk.

Bobbert ,Sonny Eliot was on Detroit airwaves until he was ninety-one,not long before his death. Smilovitz may do the same, but when he's ninety ,in the immortal words of the late, great Ernie Harwell ,I'll be LONG GONE !!!!
Re: Bernie the Blooper Boy :Perhaps SIX decades at WDIV .
Brad is on the Jim Rome message board too. Makes me wonder...if he spent as much energy on getting a job as he does sitting on sports radio boards, he wouldn't live in squalor.
