Nice logo WZRC 106.7, I think WLLZ will be here for a while they do sound great and you’re correct they need to dig deeper in the deep tracks on the weekends and get rid of the usual VH and Bon Jovi crap at least on the weekends.
I agree with your post, especially the VH "Safe for radio songs"...but WLLZ needs to divulge into the deeper cuts from VH first four albums, their best work is albums 1-4, tunes such as "Fools", "In A Simple Rhyme", "Take Your Whiskey Home", "DOA", "I'm The One", "Hear About It Later"...just to name a few...Old VH with DLR are some of the greatest party tunes ever from the late 70's/early 80's...believe me I know...
Know what? Just play all of Fair Warning and I'd be happy. Of course, aside from parts of III, you could play any VH album and I'd be happy.

Mom came by for Easter dinner yesterday, and we got to talking about it. She was a listener many many years back (1980 until the early 90s), and even she noted the playlist. I told her it's cool to have it back (albeit on a different frequency) but you can't go home again. It just isn't the same. There was so much different rock, and less to go around, and it wasn't so splintered...you could still get away with a lot of things you can't now. I am glad to hear about the deep cut thing, but remember, your "awesome deep cut" is someone else's "what the hell is this? *click*".

Of course it’s not the same WLLZ that I loved back in ‘80, But I admit it’s sure better than the crap 106.7 has been shoveling the last few years, Now they have something to build on and hopefully they will stay with this format.

The Beat and Then Wheelz

The Beat was an amazing station until they starting toying with the playlist and protecting 95.5

My idea of classic rock-
Artists to scrap: GnR, Bon Jovi, Huey Lewis, Men at Work, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, The Clash.
Artists to cut back on: AC/DC, Boston, Journey, 80s and up Aerosmith.
Artists to add: pop that got dropped years ago: Brewster and Shipley, Stealers Wheel, Arlo Guthrie, James Taylor, 3 Dog Night. Jethro Tull. King Crimson. Early metal like Slade. Less common southern rock like Molly Hatchey and Blackfoot.
Dont fully get rid of mainstays like Queen and Floyd, but open up the catalog more. I like stuff like "Welcome To The Machine".

I don't feel James Taylor should be on a classic rock station.

I agree with you Sam, By today’s classification of Classic Rock, But in the mid 80’s when Classic Rock Stations started with the new format James Taylor was considered Classic Rock along with Elton, Billy Joel and so on.

James Taylor? No. I would also say no Three Dog Night. Those artists belong on WOMC or CKWW.

WCSX used to play him in regular rotation ( not just "overeasy"). One was "Streamroller", which i havent heard in about 25 years.
