Trump’s ‘After the Election” Obamacare Crap

Post by screen glare » Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:39 am

Here’s an idea for one of those expensive ads to run during the presidential election campaign. String together video of Trump spouting many lies. One after another. In rapid succession. Proven lies upon which viewers - no matter party - agree.

As the commercial comes to a close - one hears another voice asking this question. “Do you now risk your family’s health care - on a risky assurance from Donald Trump?” Then one hears loud, eerie laughter as the thirty seconds ends.

Because Trump is a well- known habitual liar, and by now has yelled hundreds of lies - the ad will cause most viewers (or listeners to radio) to silently answer the question, “No!” Even if they adore him. Because they love their family more.

Anyone seen the grand GOP health care plan yet? The one to replace Obamacare.

Just wait until AFTER the election.

Yeah. Right.

President McConnell says lie low. Which they are. Liars all the way, baby.

The way republicans have handled healthcare over the last decade is an absolute joke. Certainly the biggest failure of the republican-controlled government 2017 and 2018 to not be able to get something done.

That scares me... politics aside you can't replace something that has already made changes to the system with nothing and expect everything to just work the way it did before. If Obamacare goes away entirely (the judge in Texas apparently had a weak argument with some swiss cheese qualities when he struck it down recently) having no replacement will be a complete disaster, especially for those folks in rural areas like Appalachia who vote strongly GOP and want it repealed while not realizing they are on it and benefiting greatly from it. It will also be a political disaster for the GOP.

Health care is your responsibility. Why would you want anyone, any third party and especially the government to become involved?

I agree that as time goes on, it becomes harder and harder to repeal something that many people depend on. Which is another reason why the ship has long sailed on republicans ever doing anything about healthcare.

I will say this though - setting aside the actual answer to whether Obamacare is Constitutional, wouldn't you agree that the the reality of the effects of overturning it should be wholly irrelevant to whether a high court overturns it on Constitutional grounds? Either the law is Constitutional or it isn't. If it isn't, it should be overturned regardless of the impacts such an overturning has.

My sense of not fucking with people overrides whether it perfectly follows n arbitrary set of rules... so while you are perfectly right on paper we don’t reside on paper... and if you overturn it and destroy the lives of millions of people and that doesn’t weigh slightly on your conscience you may want to think about turning in your humanity card... don’t think for a second that it wasn’t sustained by Roberts the first time because he had his conscience weighed on and didn’t want to have the court tarnished for a generation because of the harm it would cause...

Public policy isn’t a black and white binary issue...

Current Republican Thought:
Healthcare is a privilege.

Current Democrat Thought:
Healthcare is a human right.

Do not forget this. If you forget - you will always be confused when observing the actions or inaction of Congress on this topic during your lifetime.

Also notice how your thoughts may change on the topic of healthcare when you or a loved one needs expensive treatment or care - and you sell everything and anything you can to obtain enough money to pay for it.

Then look at all other countries that provide equal access to healthcare - consider their birth mortality rates - etc. - and compare. The US generally does not come out on top. (Same with equal access to education.)

Because of our greed and hard hearted selfishness the US will not last. We are a young country. We will pass away - as many civilizations and countries have - because our leaders are corrupt (plus Trump mentally ill), and supported by hard hearted CINO hypocrites who champion greed, all types of gluttony, and short-sighted selfishness.

Afterward - the universe will say - “their choice.”

Having just finished my 2018 taxes, I call BS on the latter. Obamacare does not treat all humans equally, but rather uses one's income as well as employment status (namely - self-employed vs. employee) to determine the level of assistance one receives to pay for healthcare, thus affecting the quality of care different people can afford. If healthcare was really a human right, every person should receive the same care.

Even Democrats admit Obamacare has flaws... Republicans have gutted it like a fish and it cannot function well now... it could have been fixed and made to work better. But single payer or a government run health insurer would both be much more able to treat everyone equally... that’s where the party is at now... Obamacare was never done with healthcare as a human right in mind..

Yes, it was.

Obama himself realized it was a start. He wanted it made better over the years. It was better than what we had. Better. Not yet perfect. But made MUCH better as years went on.

Then Trump’s fearful or blackmailed yes men and women tried to blow it up. And still are. And yes they have indeed dsmaged it instead of making it better - as Obama had always expected. Better and moving toward much better. Not wrecked and trashed.

Healthcare as a human right is a response to the GOP tearing the thing apart... it was sold that way in 2009...
