Strange location indeed. Not much camouflage or protection from the elements and/or predators. We figure Mama Robin either had to lay her egg in a hurry and found nearest workable spot, or the meter provides a bit of radiant heat to aid in the incubation process. She's tending the nest and we do our best to give her the space she needs.

Saw my first robin for 2019 today.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
