But auto insurance is way too much. I have a 2018 Jeep Compass and the insurance is over $200 a month on it. I shopped around and that was the best I could do. These rates are unreasonable. I've had 3 accidents in my life, 2 when i was under 18 and 1 was about 14 years ago now. Added up, the cost to fix my cars all together was about $7k. they make that back and then some in 2.5 years on me now.

Between 8000 and 12000 cars are stolen in Detroit each year.

I can understand - to a degree - the sky high rates in the Detroit city limits. I'm not saying those rates are acceptable; they are probably 3x what they should be.
Great post, Force. Thank you for sharing! (Even better - the author of the piece is Chad Livengood, who is one of the better press reporters around these parts.)

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Ouch....That is No Fault for you. When I moved to a state without it I was stunned. Right now I drive a Charger with 0 Comp, 100 Collision, road side, towing, rental car etc, etc, and it's 89 a month, I add renters and pay 100 combined.

I'm so envious. I've owned two Chargers and they were the nicest cars I ever had. My last two vehicles have been Chevy Equinox. Good and reliable, but boring as hell.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

Turkeytop, 3 years ago I decided to buy the one car I always wanted to own. I always drove what made sense for someone hauling children around. So I went to my local FCA dealer and he had this beauty on the lot. He ordered it from Brampton with every option offered and thought it would sell fast. He admits he made a mistake in ordering it in rear wheel drive instead of AWD for the winters here. I got an incredible deal and have driven it trouble free through the winter no matter the road conditions. This car also changed my mind on Unions. I read up on the union who stands behind the Brampton workers and was impressed. These members take great pride in the product they put out and it shows.

No one is forced to get insurance. You make a choice to own a vehicle and when you make that choice you understand certain things. You will need a drivers license. You need to register the vehicle and obtain plate or plates for it depending on your state and an inspection, again depending on your state and you understand you will need to obtain insurance. None of this is forced. Many people do not own vehicles and get along just fine. If a person uses their freedom of choice to own a vehicle, they understand the responsibilities that go with it. To own a vehicle and not have insurance is among the dumbest things a person can ever do. Understanding things like this is part of being an adult. Obviously you haven't a clue as to what being an adult entails.
