What Will Be The Next Format Change In Detroit?

Post by Deleted User 14935 » Fri Mar 08, 2019 4:02 pm

Any ideas, How about this, Cumulus dumps the Nash name on 93.1 and takes the WWWW calls and move them to 93.1 ( I did suggest this on another thread recently) and change the format slightly to Classic Country and then park the WPLJ calls from New York City at either 102.9 or 107.1 in Ann Arbor but 102.9 would still remain Country, What do you think?

I don't see 93.1 turning away from Country anytime soon.

I think it could easily be three years or longer before we see another full market signal on FM flip formats here in Detroit.

Would not surprise me if Urban One at some point takes its 98.3 FM translator (which seems to be operating at greatly reduced power at the moment) and puts a format on there that is separate from FM 93.5 and FM 99.9.

I would love a Classic Soul Format on 98.3 that would be cool.

W4 has been in Ann Arbor for nearly 20 years. What would be the point in changing the call letters???

To bring them back to where they originated in Detroit.

Who gives a shit? Like I said, the call letters have been in Ann Arbor for TWENTY YEARS!! It's not particularly relevant that they originated in Detroit.

Agreed. Cumulus isn't gonna go through all that hoopla just to bring call letters back to Detroit.

However, I think the next major tweak will be in the Fisher building. 96.3 won't fully change, but I can see some tweaking going on.

96.3 has dumped all 80s product and is 100 percent in the Hot AC lane again. I'm hearing an expanded selection of 2000 to 2010 material.

Like many Hot AC stations at the moment, they are (still) taking a very conservative stance on new music.

Well, Who gave a shit about the WLLZ calls, But guess what? They’re back in Detroit, So why not W4 returning to Detroit just because they were in Ann Arbor for 20 years who really gives a shit! It’s just Ann Arbor. The W4 calls were in Detroit for 26 years the first time Than 8 more years the second time.

It doesn't matter in PPM. Let's not get too crazy... It won't ever be the same unless this is on the 98.7 frequency. Now if 106.7 had brought back the W4 calls for rock, that would be one thing. But as a whole, calls don't mean squat anymore.

Calls don't mean squat, but BRANDS do.

Brands absolutely do. But you could bring back Z Rock and not use the WDZR calls. I think in this instance you kinda had to bring back the calls because they were so intertwined.

Kinda cool considering this frequency has had so many format tweaks and changes yet kept the WDTW calls through all of it.

The WDTW calls now belong to a station in Ocean Isle, North Carolina WDTW-FM 93.5
