106.7 Detroit is identical to 105.7 Columbus

Post by MWmetalhead » Sun Mar 03, 2019 9:46 am

About a week ago, iFart brought back "the Brew" branding to 105.7 Columbus, replacing an extremely low rated all-Sports format.

I just discovered that 106.7 is playing the EXACT same songs in the EXACT same order as 105.7 in Columbus.

How pitiful is that?!?!

Both stations also position themselves as "The NEW Generation of Classic Rock."

Does this mean that Podell doesn't really have to "program" anything?...just log it in from a corporate-generated list? No wonder he's so happy! :-)

You heard Queen on a classic rock station? Do tell....

I take it you don’t like Queen but is it at all shocking to hear that? Which song eas it?

The problem is they've played Queen three times since 6a this morning!

Just as Fault 1067 overdosed on Panic! at the Disco and Imagine Dragons, the new station is OD'ing on Queen.

Most recent play was "Killer Queen."

WCSX and WLAV through the years have not played Queen much and for good reason - the band SUCKS!!! I suspect they are a band that is very polarizing when it comes to research.

If any Rock station in Columbus is carbon copied - it should be 99.7 The Blitz. PHENOMENAL station. Much better stationality than WRIF. Better music choices, too.

Podell has zero say about the music, It’s Corporate Radio, Some ass in the Big Apple calls the shots.

I wouldn't crap on 106.7's weekend playlist. Podell was at Cumulus a week ago so this thing came together fast. Weekend playlists are all scheduled on Friday meaning three days (Sat-Mon) have to be done in one day. Whatever program they use to schedule was most likely allowed to schedule with just a cursory check by Podell himself because music scheduling takes time to do well and he didn't have it. If there is this kind of monotony on Wednesday then there's a problem.

That is the prob these days the cookie cutter formats and Clear Channel seems to be the worst for it.Even for 106.7 the D all the playlists were nearly identical to the CC Brew stations.

I noticed though that when the Doc made his debut yesterday at 3pm that the station's playlist flow was a bit better. Before that it was a harder listen for me.

In my opinion, a format similar to "The Lake" in Cleveland (could still be branded as Wheelz) would be a great fit for 106.7... although it's not much different from the D.

I should have expected this from ifart, king of forcing every station to use the same corporate playlist.

Oh, btw, Queen does not "suck"

Your opinion on the band does not affect their legacy. Sorry.
Everyone has their own taste in music.

Get over it. Queen is classic rock.

The 90's era WLLZ many of you opine for was already running on fumes. Wheels was at it's peak all through the 80's. Here's the guy who launched WLLZ in late fall, 1980

After PD Jay Clark left, it was all downhill for WLLZ.

Where is Gary Palmer these days? Steve Striker, Dorian Pastor, Kerry Maul, and Bob Bauer are gone, sadly.

Honestly I can't figure out what PD's at iHeart stations even do? Corporate does the job for them.

Who's the PD that quit an iHeart station because she made an amazing Christmas playlist, but corporate said nooope, she had their corporate playlist?

I forget her name and the station
