Lone Ranger on WXYZ-AM

When was the Lone Ranger radio program produced in the Maccabees Building on WXYZ? Do you know where in the building the studios were? Were they the same studios WDET-FM used to broadcast from near the top of the building?

I think, but I am not 100% sure. I would have to reference Dick Osgood’s Wxyie Wonderland book.
It ran from 1933-1954 according to a piece that ran on Michigan Radio today.

Without the Wyxie book in front of me: I remember that they moved from the Maccabees Bldg to the big house at Jefferson and Iroquois in 1944. The last Rangers were recorded there (" ... the Lone Ranger comes to you transcribed from Detroit ... ") and the last original show aired in November 1954. Repeats aired until sometime in 1955.

This may help. WXYZ History Card. On just the first two pages, it lists all the TL and SL changes from ~1926 to ~1980. Dates and addresses shown.

This helps put events along the timeline. It is also practically indisputable. It is not hearsay, it is a historical record. I keep having radio people telling me that "that never happened". Some of them get really hissy (the ones with "strong personalities", you know who they are) when proven wrong. ARSA Surveys also show the on air personnel and have dates. American Radio History also has important sources.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

Brace Beamer portrayed the radio Lone Ranger (of course,Clayton Moore and John Hart played the TV rendition based on true-life African-American Texas-Oklahoma cowboy-lawman Bass Reeves.)
