I know it's 2019, but I had more faith that Entercom, unlike iHeart, would actually invest some money into their on-air lineup. If this station really can't pull together an airstaff with at least one or more of Chris Edmonds, Dave Lockhart Kevin O'Niell, Kevin Sanderson, Linda Lanci, Lisa Berry, Lisa Jesswin, Pam Rossi, Renee Vital, Sandy Kovach, etc. than consider it a failure.
They would rather bribe people to listen with money than actually do any work to make a station people will willingly listen to.

Is this the Ian Richards that was on WWCK in Flint back in the 90's. And oh...by the way...this is the 11th thread on this station.
I'm not sure his exact age but he definitely is not old enough to have been that guy

LMAO, stop...It's Ian Richards, formerly known as "Slacker" on AMP...Sounds younger than most of the music he's playing! It looks like Entercom doesn't want to spend the money to bring in "Big Name" talent! (i.e. Kevin O'Neill, Chris Edmonds, or Sandy Kovach).
I had no faith that we’d see talent like Edmonds, etc. This is 2019 radio, not 1996....
Agreed. They'll front-load the lineup with crap "talent" and voicetrackers, then dump the format after the next cool copycat format comes along that every other market in America is doing.

It would be great to hear some JAM jingles. Although, we’ll probably get canned liners from supposed soccer moms like 105.1 used to play. Ugh.

No. Ian The Neon was British.

I doubt this is the permanent line up. the need voices for this scam contest- did you know it's nationwide not just Detroit ??

when WLLZ turned to V98.7 Kelly Walker was a DJ for a short time- yes she was a holdover and announcing David Sanborn, etc
there are other examples. I bet they will try and pull a couple of big names. give it some time

There's little to be gained by hiring a bunch of "retreads" to staff this station. That practice is one of the things that is wrong with this market. It may have been okay 15 years ago, but not today. I think Ian sounds just fine in PM drive. Heaven forbid, that AMP comes to end, and the guy wants a shot at the new format so he can keep working. Those are hardly the character traits of a "Slacker". Give the guy a chance.

Renee sounds good in evenings too.

So you're saying that Richards talent level and ability to drive ratings is on-par with (or could be if given time) to that of Kevin O'Niell, Chris Edmonds, Sandy Kovach, Lisa Berry, Lisa Jesswin, etc.?

The problem with retreads is that they eventually expire... notice that some of the supposedly big name folks never have another radio job after being let go from wherever they are big at? Cost is a part but times and tastes change... what may be an “oh yeah that guy” to someone who is 50 is a “who the hell are you?” To someone who’s 30...

But, with this station, they also are going after the 50-year-olds given the music selection. I still would expect at the very least, that they would have a slightly bigger name as morning air talent, and perhaps one also for drive time.

With no disrespect to any talent of any age, this isn't a personality driven format. It's a background format. As long as whoever you put on sounds pleasant, doesn't get in the way of and seems to know the music, it's fine.
Do I think Kevin O'Niell belongs on this station? Of course. Do I think it's hurts the station if they put Renne Vitale on instead? No.

I agree 100 percent. However there should be a decent morning show.

If the best they can do is the likes of Ian Richards and Renee Vitale, it must be because Debbie Kenyon has orders from Entercom Corporate to run The Breeze on the cheap! ...and having Tim Roberts doing the liners and contest promos in morning drive is the epitome of a "tightwad" corporation. They should be ashamed of themselves. At this rate, by not bringing a big-name talent on board, they are setting themselves up for failure. This station will NEVER rise above a 3.5 share, at best!
