WTRX had it from the very late 1970s up until the late 1980s and the WDLZ Z-Rock fiasco as I recall. In 1975-1978, I remember listening on WVIC 730 before Sunset, CHYR-7 730 after Sunset, WVIC-FM 94.9 (20 kW/248 feet HAAT off Gunn Rd.) after Sunset (3 miles from WFBE, still 3.7 kW/115 feet HAAT at FCHS on Crapo St.), and WIBM-FM 94.1 (50 kW/315 feet HAAT), still at the old site on Kibby Rd. in Jackson, all from Flint, when there was no local affiliate. I even rigged up a selective Panasonic Clock Radio (The model was called The Park Ridge, recalling the WTRX ownership tenure of Larry Getz) so I could attach the TV antenna to get WIBM-FM. The Allied Radio Colorset 60 worked well at 94.1, but fell well below 0 dBd by 102.5 and WGER/WIOG. The turnstile worked better at 102.5. It did work well on WVPE 88.1 and WIOT.

This Panasonic Model is quite similar, but not The Park Ridge. I know I heard CHLO, still on 680 on it, so that defines the time. Pretty good radio. The Park Ridge had a wooden cabinet except the front and back. All controls were on the front, no snooze feature bar.

Question For London Posters (Marcus and TT)

Do you know where the CHLO towers on 680 were located? From the description in the Historical account, describing its "Intense signal" covering Essex, Kent, and Lambton Counties, I can't see how they could send the signal West that much, at least not the major lobe, toward the KNBR 0.5 mV/m 50% skywave contour, under the Treaty skywave curves. Since it was 1 kW DA-1, the pattern was the same Day and Night. And it did go West and NW directly very well. Used to listen to it as one of my many Top 40 options in Flint.

I love the Flashback AT40 countdown shows, especially from the mid-80s which is when as a kid I was obsessed with listening to the countdown every Sunday morning.

Cars 107.9 plays this on Saturday evenings, and whenever we go on a family camping trip that catches this station, turning on Casey Kasem is always something I look forward to!

"Alexa, Play Cars 108" works. Pretty much have to, since the translator is suddenly and inexplicably very strong. I need a better antenna, though from my more recent RL.

Detroit's AT40 airing history during the original Casey and Shadoe eras was something like this, if I'm not mistaken:

1970-71 W4 (as an oldies/Top 40 hybrid prior to the flip to AOR)
1977-82 WDRQ
1982-83 WMJC
1983-93 WHYT

During the six-year period from 1971-77 when Detroit had no AT40 affiliate, the show was still carried on some nearby stations like CHYR Leamington, WAAM Ann Arbor, and WPHM and later CKJD out of the Port Huron/Sarnia area.

In the Lansing/Jackson area, WIBM, WFMK and Q106 were also affiliate stations during the '70s and '80s (Q106 was an AOR/CHR hybrid at the time). In the Tri-Cities, Bay City's 1440 WBCM aired the show before WIOG picked it up (WIOG, then still at 106.3, was welcomed on-air as a new station in January 1982). Toledo had the show on WOHO and later WVKS' predecessor WMHE (which also picked up Casey's Top 40 in 1989 prior to the flip to Kiss FM). 1290 CJBK and 1410 CKSL both had the show in London; I think CKSL may have had CT40 as well.

From Saturday, September 14, 1985, here is the episode where Casey talks about a dying dog named "Snuggles" (this is the clean version): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEG9pP8NGx0&t=1608s
