An old Hymn "Bringing in the Sheaves."

When I was a kid, I thought the song was, "Bringing in the Cheese."

I visualized a chef's cart being wheeled in, stacked high with cheese.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Lynyrd Skynyrd "Sweet Home Alabama" RIGHT lyric: "Well I hope Neil Young will remember, a southern man don't need him around anyhow" WRONG lyric: "A simple man don't need him around anyhow".

1. When I was a kid I always thought "Bad Blood" by Neil Sedaka & Elton John was "Bad Love". I could not figure out why I couldn't find such a song with that title.

2. Dancing In The Moonlight by King Harvest:
Misheard Lyric: "Everybody feelin' a woman right"
Correct Lyric: "Everybody feeling warm and bright"

This one I continued to mishear all the way into my early 20s.

"It's A Man's Man's Man's World"-James Brown

Real lyrics, "Man made the electric lights".

Desmond Dekker "Israelites:"

"get up in the morning, same thing for breakfast ... "

"shirt them a-tear up, trousers ago ... "

When lyrics web sites appeared, they revealed much of my "Israelites" lyrics to be misheard.
Me ears are alight!

From "El Paso" by Marty Robbins.

"Maybe tomorrow a pullet may find me,
Tonight nothings worse than this pain in my heart."

And hopefully, that chick will be more loyal than Felina. :rollin

Correct lyrics.

"Maybe tomorrow a bullett may find me."

One that I got wrong for so long makes me giggle because my lyric doesn't make any logical sense

Barbra Streisand - Left in the Dark

Correct lyric: "you don't have to sneak in the doorway"
Wrong lyric: "you don't have to sleep in the dark"

The lyric I misunderstood for years was from "Loving You Has Made Me Bananas" by Guy Marks.

The correct lyric is "Father Had the Shipfitter Blues."

I misheard it as "Father sailed the ship in her Blues."
