I always loved the live 68 version of Blue Christmas by Elvis. It's never played. The original is good, but for some reason I love the 68 version.

This is perhaps a goofy selection for someone of my gender and age... but ever since I was a kid, I liked "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle" by Burt Bacharach from 1968. I'm not exactly sure what the song is about as I never really paid attention to the lyrics, but I like how it sounds. Very 60's sounding song.

I just heard a set of novelty Xmas songs on Sirius/XM. This was one of them. I never considered it a seasonal standard, but it was perfectly in context with the other songs.

Run Run Rudolph sounds particularly good, as a memorial tribute to Chuck Berry. It's amazing how much music he got out of a basic set of instruments and the production techniques of the time.

I like SOOO many Christmas songs, there are too many to think of right now. My spotify Christmas playlist is over 70 songs that I LOVE.

But my gold standard, my top 5...are....

1.) Merry Christmas, Darling - The Carpenters (both the 1970 & 1978 versions, I listen to this hundreds of times per season)
2.) Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - The Carpenters
3.) This Christmas - Donny Hathaway
4.) The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole
5.) Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams

Runner up: Happy Xmas War is Over - John Lennon

I heard "I'm Gettin Nothin For Christmas" today, on WCXI. They played the Fontane Sisters version. The one I grew up on, that I heard on Dr Demento every year, was by Stan Freberg.

Also heard was "Look Around You (It's Christmas Time)" by Bobby Goldsboro, from 1968, that I always liked.

"Last Christmas" by Wham has been a guilty pleasure of mine. Absolute Radio (UK) each year has a contest to see who can go thru an entire Christmas season without hearing it. I'd never make it.

How about this lost (and smooth) gem:

I had no idea Firefall recorded any Christmas songs. That sounded pretty good!
Here's a Firefall song that I always associated with Christmas, because the violins remind me of sleigh bells, and because it came out around that time of year. "Strange Way" by Firefall.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRiaroLhTEo

And another that is a Holiday/Christmas Song partly because it begins, "It was late in December, the sky turned to snow." The "Time Passages" referred to Holiday travel and reminiscing about people in our lives, old relationships, etc. "Time Passages" by Al Stewart.

And this absolute tear jerker by Becky Lamb, Bill Lamb's daughter and Jeff Lamb's sister. A powerful but controversial Christmas song from 1967. "Little Becky's Christmas Wish" by Becky Lamb.

Is THAT where they got the idea for the 486-SX?

"Driving Home For Christmas" by Chris Rea. Never heard it until I started listening to UK classic hits stations. Still have never heard it on a US or Canadian station.

I delivered Bill Lamb's mail now and then. There's a mailman in "Little Becky's Christmas Wish," the bringer of bad news that made Becky not like him anymore, and he gets me through this otherwise dreadful bit of sentiment.

Not a Christmas song, but who recorded this advertisement for the new sub?

Forgot this one. "The Twelve Gifts Of Christmas" by Allan Sherman.

Remember those early transistor radios? Our family bought our first transistor radio from Bill Lamb. Good Magvavox AM/SW, but insensitive by later standards. Cost $60.00. We weren't supposed to touch it. First thing we went for when the adults were out of the house.

Jeff Lamb and Little Becky Lamb in front of the store where we bought our first transistor radio.
